favorite all time wr? thats tough...i think JR has to be labeled the best wr even though he played in a wr friendly system with smart qb's, he was amazing in the fact that you knew what he was going to do and you still couldn't stop him. everyone knew his signature patterns, but he would abuse the defense anyway.

but i would have to say it was so exciting to watch winslow in the days of dan fouts and marino when the teams would both score over 30 points. (i know winslow was a te). favorite cowboys receiver....pearson and hill were great, irvin stands out due to the fact that i got to see him play a lot more as i live in philly and when i was younger there was no way to see every cowboys game like i have since the 90's. so i saw limited games with the 70's squad, also i was under 10 so i am not remebering a whole lot from back then.

If I had to pick one WR to start my team around, and it could be anyone who's ever played in the NFL, it would be Michael Irvin. Because of his tenacity, his fire, his ability to push his teammates and lift everyone around him with his play and his unfettered desire to win. He wore his emotions on his sleeve and left everything he had on the field, and his teammates knew it and responded to it. He was also as clutch as they come.

Love Irvin, but he had off field issues. I build my team around Jerry Rice - the greatest WR ever to play the game.

I forgot about the ultimate weapon in Chris Brazzell. Randal "the rainbow soldier" Williams is quickly heading down that road as well.

I'm tempted to say Stepfret Williams but that would make me seem less than sincere. Who was that guy who played on the replacement team?

Anyway, no, Michael Irvin is my favorite because he was the heart of the greatest NFL team ever-- and one heckuva a WR too. Drew Pearson is a close second.

I couldn't care less about his off the field issues. They never stopped him from working harder than anyone on the team, they never affected him on Sundays.

When Irvin gets popped with a couple strippers it's a big deal. When Rice gets caught in a brothel he says 'I thought it was just a massage parlor' and everything is OK. Don't bother me with off the field issues, a lot of those 'issues' are created or negated by the press.

My favorite would be Tony Hill. I actually didn't like Michael Irvin's on-field personality when he started doing the Kung-Fu dances, circa 1995. Just after we won the Super Bowl and players were celebrating on the field, I remember his interview and he said that the Cowboys have returned "home," meaning the Super Bowl. He also proclaimed that this wouldn't "be the last chapter" and this would be the first of many more Super Bowls. Well, famous last words...

I appreciate his leadership, motivation and passion, but could have done without the over-the-top showmanship.

A player that I'd throw onto the list of favorites would be Kelvin Martin. The hate list would be Mike Sherrard.

I didn't say he was better. I said I'd rather build by team around him. When a guy can actually elevate his teammates on both sides of the ball, that guy is something special and goes beyond the ability to simply play his position. When he can also play his position better than 99.9% of the guys who have ever lined up and tried, you build your team around him if you can.

of all your posts this is the only one that has ever made me want to strangle you which probably shocks the masses. lol.

Rice is a 49er which means he was simply afforded a lot of lucky calls and played against pansies every week. I could care less about those 200 or so TDs he has. He is still the enemy and I hope he passes a kidney stone the size of Texas.

I loved Irvin's celebrations. They had the same effect on the crowd and the team as touchdowns. Forget wide reciever. He is my favorite football player of all time.

He was clutch, that's for sure. And perfectd the little push off manuever too. tough to compare irvin to jerry, jerry always got great separation, once he caught the ball he would add up yards in chunks, and incredible hands, acrobatic catches, one handed catches, incredible concentration. But Irvin made the clutch catch in traffic, took a beating and came right back for more.

Also i love his personality, that s*** eating grin, fiery emotion and i still like watching him as an analyst, he's entertaining and "likeable".

My favorite Cowboys WR was and always will be... Bullet Bob Hayes.

Drew Pearson and Tony Hill follow behind Hayes.

Irvin for all his talent and contribution was never a guy I liked or admired even before we drafted him.

I was always Bob Hayes whenever I played WR. It speaks volumes about the anti-Cowboys bias of the HoF that he wasn't enshrined 20 years ago.

Golden Richards...a blast from the past...Fastest Cowboy on the roster in his time.

CB, do you remember a catch Golden made one time...He was running downfield and was tackled by the knees...Did a summersault through the air and landed on his feet facing forward...and took off back downfield.

Never forget that one !
