Following back-to-back disappointing seasons that saw a supremely talented San Diego team miss the playoffs, the Chargers could be on the verge of making a big free-agent splash this offseason.

The Chargers have assigned an unknown price (http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/mar/06/mario-williams-likely-move-bolts-could-pursue/) that they would be willing to pay in order to sign presumptive free agent Mario Williams (http://cowboyszone.com/players/mariowilliams/profile?id=WIL431243), U-T San Diego reported Tuesday. The newspaper also reported the team spoke with Williams' agent, Ben Dogra, at the NFL Scouting Combine last month, but it's unclear if Williams' name specifically came up in conversation.

Williams, 27, is considered the top defensive free agent in this year's class, after totaling 53 sacks in six seasons with the Houston Texans (http://cowboyszone.com/teams/houstontexans/profile?team=HOU). Williams made the switch from 4-3 defensive end to 3-4 outside linebacker this past season when the Texans hired defensive coordinator Wade Phillips, but was lost for the year when he tore his pectoral muscle after only playing five games.

No doubt.

$600K gets you a halfway decent 1500 sq. foot townhouse in the Bay Area.

Insane.

Lol, you ain't kiddin'.

Just to shake our heads my wife and I look at homes in Texas (Dallas/Arlington and Austin) look what we could get for $175-300K....mini-mansions.

I love California weather, but the older I get I'm starting to realize the quality of the home I live in is more important since that's where we spend most of our time.

Let me tell you something, the notion of having a theater, entertainment or game room doesn't exist out here except for the ultra-rich out here.

I can imagine. Make you wonder though if agents even discuss this with their clients since for them it is all about the commission they get off the deal.

But if you stop and think about it, a Deal in places like Houston or Dallas is worth a lot more than the same deal in Cal or in NY where the cost of living is so high

Yhea, I was going to say flat, but I thought that was too English. :)

It's incredible, first time buyers are completely unable to make purchases. Luckily I got in about 15 yrs ago before it went crazy! The worse things get in the world, esp Middle East, parts of Africa, etc. the higher property prices go as all the flight capital comes here.

That's because redneck neighbors bring down the property value. :laugh2:
