Suspended Broncos May File a Lawsuit

Lawyers for Ryan McBean and D. J. Williams, two of the three Denver Broncos suspended for violating the N.F.L.’s drug policy, are likely to file a lawsuit in state court in Colorado as soon as Monday in an attempt to overturn the rulings.
The players contend that the league-appointed drug test collector mishandled their urine samples and that the arbitrator who heard their appeals violated protocol in several ways, including speaking to an N.F.L. executive in private.
“To me, there are so many things that they have done wrong that they have trampled on my client’s rights, so we’re going to do everything possible to make sure he is vindicated,” said Peter Schaffer, who represents McBean, a defensive tackle who can become a free agent next week.
