George: If Cowboys make any more cuts, expect DE Kenyon Coleman to be next on the chopping block

Q: Any chance the Cowboys will appeal the NFL's decision to dock them $10 million in salary-cap space over the next two seasons?
– Efren Maldonado
A: All indications are that the Cowboys have accepted their penalty and are prepared to move on. The Cowboys didn’t break any league rules, but the NFL thought they gained an unfair advantage by front-loading contracts in the uncapped season of 2010 to help them down the road. Good luck challenging the all-powerful NFL.

Q: Who do you think is next on the list for the Cowboys to cut?
– George Walsh
A: After releasing kicker David Buehler and veteran cornerback Terence Newman on Tuesday, the Cowboys appear done with their cuts. However, if I had to pick one player who could end up being cut it’d have to be defensive end Kenyon Coleman. He struggled to end last season and the Cowboys need more of a pass-rush. Coleman’s strength is against the run.

Expect Coleman to get his walking papers after the draft.
We'll target a front 7 guy assuredly in r1 and if we can nab a DE, it is Coleman who gives way.

I suspect good chance it plays out this way. Looking for this years JJ Watt.

The team needs defensive linemen and it needs them fresh. Dallas needs a strong, experienced rotation of six. They have six in Hatcher, Ratliff, Spears, Coleman, Josh-Brent, and Lissemore.

I would actually prefer them to go 7 deep with that 7th player taken in the first two rounds of the draft.

If they can beat Coleman, then fine, cut him. But if he's still playing well I would prefer to keep him in a constant rotation.

The youth movement is in full force.

I think we draft a DL very high this year. That will spell the end for Coleman - barring injury to the other defensive lineman.

I think Geathers could be ready to take the next step as well. I wouldn't be shocked if he beat out Coleman this TC and pre-season.

Spears and Coleman are redundant and both equally as bad. Spears probably keeps a spot by default since he hoodwinked the Cowboys into giving him more guaranteed money. Jerry must have been hitting the scotch extra hard that day.
