Manningham lands in San Francisco
Posted by Mike Florio on March 17, 2012, 11:30 PM EDT
Receiver Mario Manningham spent the first four seasons of his career catching passes from Eli Manning. Manningham could spend the next two catching them from Eli’s big brother.
A league source tells PFT that Manningham has agreed to terms with the 49ers on a two-year deal.
Manningham also had been in negotiations with the Rams.
The moves comes at a time when Peyton Manning is in the final days of selecting his next team. The finalists (for now) are the 49ers, Titans, and Broncos.
Manningham joins a depth chart that includes Michael Crabtree and Randy Moss.
In his final game with the Giants, Manningham caught a 38-yard pass along the sidelines on the first play of the Super Bowl-winning drive.

Have to wait on the money, but this could be an excellent move. He's emerging. If they land Peyton too, look out.

If they get Peyton this could be the most loaded team in the last 20 years.

Agree 100%.

Davis, Manningham, Crabtree, Manning, whatever is left of Moss and that running game, o-line and defense. I'd feel good as a 49er fan.
Unless that o-line isn't what I'm thinking it is.

If they get Peyton and if Peyton is really back to his old self.

If Manning doesn't go to San Fran he doesn't care about winning.

I'm really scared.
They may go undefeated if they get Manning.
And if Manning doesn't go to SF he's an idiot.

I certainly don't mind your being here but if I may, why are you on a Cowboys board?

Allow me to clarify: Were I a 49er fan, I'd feel good about these moves.

Whatever is left of Moss would be crushed by Peyton the first time he took a route off.

OMG you people are ridiculous:
Most loaded team in 20 years and could go undefeated. Are you people nuts. They are nowhere near either of these.

You would think after last year with Philly that people would quit making the type of statements "___________ will win ____" or "_______ are the most loaded team". Time and time again the NFL has proven that just because you have the best roster on paper doesn't mean squat.
Not only that but excuse if I don't fear Peyton Manning who has had 3 neck surgeries or a retired Randy Moss or butterfingers Manningham. These moves could pay off no doubt but let's allow the season to play before we crown them champs.

That defense is already ridiculous. If they get Manning and he's just solid then I dont see anyone stopping them
The irony is the 9ers were in a similar situation as the Colts with Montana

If they get Manning they still have issues. People act like Manning is just going to come in and work miracles and he is going to play as if he didn't miss a year and not playing with an injury. No one knows if Manning can move around and take a hit.

If our WR dropped as many as he has we would call him a bum. I guess the grass looks greener on the other side but under the same microscope not so much

I wouldn't call him an emerging player.. maybe more people recognize him now since he had a famous play in the Super Bowl, but he's been long since arrived in the NFL. He put up two very solid seasons before this one. If anything i'd say he took a step back this year with Cruz becoming Eli's favorite target, but the ability is still very much there for Mario. Look for big numbers from him if he has a QB that can get him the ball in SF.

Okay, then you don't call him that.
I will. He's ready to be a bigger factor in an offense.

He's already been a major factor in an offense. The two years before this one he averaged 60 catches, 880 yards and 7 TD's.
This year he took a step back because of the emergence of Cruz, but he's proven himself as more than capable of being a big time receiver.
You call him whatever you want.. i was just trying to say, he's not an emerging or ascending player.. he's already arrived. Whether you noticed it or not.
;)
(PS.. does everything have to be a dick measuring contest with you, or can you just have a healthy discussion about something with an open mind, realizing everything you type on your laptop in front of you might not always be completely right?)
