I think they kind of took the prestige out of it recently by increasing the number of players invited as well as purposely throwing in some later round prospects.

25 players were invited last year, It's no longer a resemblance of the top 10 or 15 players as it has been.

With that said, I would not be surprised if he's holding up a Panthers jersey.

It was a big day for Michael Brockers, and I'm not just referring to his massive 6-foot-6-inch, 316 pound frame (which was slightly slimmer than Brockers measured in at the combine).

Brockers and the rest of the NFL-hopefuls at LSU had their pro day today. After a less than stellar combine, Brockers, who has been one of the biggest risers in the pre-draft process, improved on some of his crucial numbers.

For starters, he slimmed down from 322 pound to 316, which isn't a major change, but it shows that he's working. In addition, the mammoth defensive tackle improved his time in the 40-yard dash from 5.36 at the combine to a respectable 5.15 today. His 21 reps on the bench press were also respectable considering his arms are 35 inches long. His 30 inch vertical jump was also an improvement over the 26.5 inches he recorded at the combine.

Perhaps the best news of the day for Brockers came after his workout, though. Brockers was invited to Radio City Music Hall for the 2012 NFL Draft, according to Albert Elias. He also reportedly had dinner tonight with the Kansas City Chiefs, a team that has a history of drafting LSU defensive linemen, according to Joe Everett.

All in all, it wasn't a bad day to be Michael Brockers.

The 30 inch vertical is decent for a 315 pounder.

I still don't think he is a great athlete like JJ Watt, though. He isn't what we really need to take this defense to the next level.

I think Cox would be better for us than Brockers.

I really don't get why anyone would rate Brockers ahead of Cox. Cox was more productive in college against the same competition, has a MUCH better motor, tests out more athletic, and is almost exactly the same age (actually a few days younger) than Brockers. The only reason I can fathom is that there's just some allure and/or comfort with LSU defensive lineman, which is a really strange bias considering how shakey their track record has been in the NFL.

I would imagine it is not about prestige anymore. I would imagine they HOPE some of these guys stick around a long time. I imagine they love the idea of talking about some poor guy sitting in agony waiting for his name to be called. They probably love showing them on camera every once in a while. And they really love when the guy finally gets picked.

It's all about the entertainment and the drama, prestige has nothing to do with it IMO.

They have really turned the NFL draft into such a television event, even making it more days and prime time.

I think they like the "reality show" type of thing involved with it now...show the poor guy bummed out sitting there and then the triumph of him finally getting picked.

Charley Casserly was talking about Brockers' lack of pass rush on tape. Casserly talked about Brockers not having that sudden burst to his game or explosion in the pass rush. I don't want the Cowboys to draft him. I hope someone else takes him. I think he's overvalued and overrated. He's a classic boom or bust prospect, especially at the top of the draft.

Agreed. Side not Im not sold on Coples either don't like to read about guys with low motors. Dude complained when they moved him to DT which he would effectively be here as a 3-4 DE . This is why i like Fletch so much more than these 2. JMO

I think people like Brockers for his length. He scares me though.

I would much rather have Cox over him. Like others said, he tested out better physically, and he had better numbers against the same competition.

Just do not see why anyone would think Brockers is a first rd pick. Lack of production and poor combine numbers; and while he improved some in his pro day he still does not show anything that makes him special.

Best I see him being is a somewhat better Spears.
