Oh wait. Was there one before? This year, even...? I forget.
SO! Who's going to be paying $7,250.99 for the show?! Or something like that. Close.
Me? I'll be watching for free over the internet again :)
Oh, and I got Cena and Rock both losing, somehow, to be carried over yet ANOTHER year ha ha.
And HBK somehow kicks BOTH HHH and Taker off into retirement for good :)

You ever done it? Actually seen the matches? Doubt it...
Sure, it is fake, they don't intentionally want to hurt anyone.
But, to say that it doesn't take stamina, strength or anything like that is just plain ignorant.
It's as much of a "sport" as tennis or golf is. But, still is entertainment.

Seriously.....speed, I would insult you, but I don't want the ban, nor do I feel like you are worth the insult....but just know this, ALL WRESTLING FANS KNOW IT IS FAKE, EVEN CHILDREN...and we are ok with that. Movies are fake. Plays are fake. Cartoons are fake. Hell, even Boxing is fake now.
So please take your condescending tone elsewhere....We get it, you don't like wrestling......and if so, just stay out of the thread instead of trying to cause trouble and create tension.

In regards to next years Mania, there are plenty of rumors flying out there right now with Stone Cold and Lesnar wanting to sign on. I figured after The Rock did his deal this year with basically just one big fight, you might see some of the older guys do the same. Austin actually tweeted recently to Punk that if the stars line up right, he would open a can of whoop --- a year from now in NYC (next years mania location)
Austin vs. Punk - the most likely match
Lesnar vs. Undertaker - history together already and of course The Streak on the line.

Ive actually started to think that's exactly whats going to happen because I believe what they're going to do is either someone is going to come out and screw Cena, allowing Rock to win, or someone is going to come out and attack them both cause the match to be thrown out or something.
I've just got this feeling they're going to end it in some way that keeps it from actually being over so that they can use them to face one another again next year.
And Austin vs. Punk would be absolutely awesome.

Great message board. Glad I found you guys. And wrestling talk too. I really believe as long as Taker can continue the streak he will. He just had his 47th birthday this week. Results in tennis and golf are not predetermined. The winner is decided on the skill, athleticism and luck of the contestants not on who can sell more t-shirts. I really don't see how you can compare the two.

I wasn't comparing them on a win/lose basis. Or t-shirt sales.
I was comparing in a physical attribute way. Wrestling, although fake takes endurance, strength and believe it or not, skill. Just like tennis and golf do, and those are sports.
So is wrestling, just in an entertainment sort of way.

I agree with you. Same match next year. They are doing that with Taker & HHH. We'll probably find out Monday @ RAW.
This is my fear. They've done this with a match for the last few years now. You had HBK vs. Taker on back to back years. Now Taker vs. HHH on back to back years.
I've just got this feeling that they're going to end this match in such a way that we'll have Cena vs. Rock on back to back years.
And the only thing they advertised as never before, never again, was their tag team match up at Survivor Series.
Now they've billed this match as a once in a lifetime match but that's been said about a million big time match ups over the years that they then went on and did multiple times.
I hope this isn't the case here. I really don't need another year of Rock vs. Cena here and there and all that stuff. They need to move on from them after WM 28 but I've just got a feeling they're not.
You ever done it? Actually seen the matches? Doubt it...

I can't believe you just compared tennis to wrestling. Tennis requires more skill, athleticism and focus than just about any real sport. That's intense competition...one on one for hours. I would put wrestling more on par with ballroom...those people are jacked for a reason. They just prefer to rub sweaty against someone in tights from the opposite sex! ;)
And I have no hate for wrestling...but I don't see how it's a sport in all, and frankly I just discounted my ballroom comparison considering one is competitive.

That's because of the way it ended & it's obvious now this match was set last year as was Rock & Cena. I think Taker probably tells them who he will wrestle at WM's. There has to be a huge comfort zone there for both of them. They know each other so well. I expect the match to be tremendous.

From what I understand Taker does personally hand pick his WM opponents and has for years now. Do to being a little more worn down each year, even with the long rests due to his age and just wear and tear, he has been picking people he's a lot more comfortable in the ring with.
Thus the two straight with HBK and now two straight with HHH. They're the guys he's most comfortable with, trusts the most in the ring, and knows they're going to put on a show together.
I doubt very much you'll see him in a WM with Cena. I'd be pretty surprised by that to be honest with you.

Will be going over my friends house for wrestlemania we will be ordering it this year - All my friends are like me in that they exclusively watch TNA outside of Wrestlemania season. Looking forward to Jericho-Punk which we are all insanely excited about. Seeing the rock in action will be cool, HBKs involvement makes HHH-Taker exciting but the ending is still predictable and the Lesnar rumors are intriguing. Jericho-Punk will steal the show.

We all know The Rock is slated to face John Cena this Sunday at WrestleMania 28. However, The Rock is also committed to appear at next year’s WrestleMania as well, and in an interview with AP Sports Writer Dan Gelston, Rocky was asked about possibly facing ex-Undisputed WWE Champion / retired UFC Champion Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 29 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
The article states:
Johnson has committed to appearing at next year’s WrestleMania at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. In what role, he hasn’t said.
It’s clear if the WWE wants to squeeze another potential blockbuster buy rate out of the Rock, the last man standing to get the headline match would be the return of former WWE and UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar.
How about it: Brock vs. Rock at WrestleMania 29?
“I’m not saying a thing,” said a laughing, grinning Rock, eyebrow raised. “I didn’t say anything.”
The Rock silenced. That’s a first.
In addition to that tidbit, the article covers Rock’s movie career, why he came back to WWE and why John Cena had to be his opponent:
The Rock, who rose to stardom in the wrestling business, says there’s nowhere else he’d rather drop The People’s Elbow than in the ring. The Rock returns to the WWE for his first WrestleMania match since 2004 when he headlines the April 1 card against former champion John Cena at Sun Life Stadium in Miami.
For a company once home to Hulk Hogan and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, this bout is as close as it gets to a dream match. Catchphrase-chanting, die-hard pro wrestling lovers are revved up about the return of The Great One. Casual fans, too.
“I came back to put on the biggest match of all time,” Johnson said. “That’s all I want to do. There’s no one I can do that with right now other than John. He’s far and above everyone else in terms of popularity. He’s the guy. Is he Stone Cold? No. Is he Hogan? No. But he is John Cena and he’s been on top for a long time now.”
Johnson reigned in that top spot at the end of the 1990s and the early part of the last decade before embarking on an impressive run in Hollywood. His current film, “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island,” grossed $95 million in its first six weeks domestically and reached $300 million worldwide. His previous movie, “Fast Five,” made more than $210 million in domestic grosses, proving that Johnson knows how to rock the box office.
All that big-ticket drawing power is why the WWE believes he can attract more than a million pay-per-view buys (at $54.95 a pop) in his return singles match.
“They know that I’m back, not for money, not because I like being on the road, but because I love the business,” Johnson said. “The energy level is different this time around, the connection is more emotional this time around.”
For the full article, which also covers the year-long Rock-Cena in further detail, click here.

Lots of people are speculating that the math vs Cena will end with interference with someone laying both out, the main people being speculated are Batista or Lesnar. Possibly a darkhorse out there like Austin.
If Lesnar deal gets done people speculate he will come out, lay out both and than WM29 will be Lesnar v. Rock. I am going to be attending WM29 so this would be amazing lol

Biggest ever?
It wouldn't even come close to touching how big Hogan vs. Rock was. That's just a plain silly statement.
Brock was really good in WWE but he wasn't even in the top 10 best they've ever had there so I'm really not sure how you're inflating anything involving Brock to be the biggest ever for the WWE.
Hell HBK vs. HHH would be FAR bigger than Brock vs. Rock and it's been done a million times. I think you're way over valuing the draw of Brock even with the UFC stuff.
I can easily think of about 10 matches that would be a far bigger draw to me, and possibly to a large majority of WWE fans, involving Rock that have absolutely nothing to do with Brock.

Maybe.
I don't see it.
I can't see a whole lot of UFC fans running over to watch pro wrestling just because Brock Lesnar is part of it.
I give Brock all the respect in the world for what he accomplished in MMA but lets be honest the hardcore MMA fans aren't interested in what he does in pro wrestling because he was an average, at best, heavyweight who benefited a great deal from over powering much smaller heavyweights.
As far as big time matches, dream matches, huge matches for pro wrestling this match wouldn't even touch the bottom run of the Hogan vs. Rock match up.

People are saying it is "50/50" if Lesnar will return to WWE on Sunday at Mania. They are working on the numbers right now.
Lesnar v. Rock WM29.... YESSSS!!!!! :D
Are these "people" the same type of sources the tabloids use when they say an "unnamed friend" or an "unnamed source" said this or said that?

I believe if Lesnar comes back it will be to work with Taker.
That's a lot more likely. They are pretty good friends and it would be a real nice match up for him next Mania.
I just don't see a Rock vs. Brock match up. I don't see where this appeal for that is coming from. That wouldn't make me excited for Mania.
Their one match, years ago, wasn't even that good and that was when they were in a lot better ring shape and in the flow of their craft.
Why the hell would anyone care about this match up of two part time wrestlers? Are people certain Brock is coming back to be a fulltime wrestler?
If not then you've got two guys who will show up once in a while and you're going to try and build and bill that as a Mania match up?
That's a tough sell.

I don't have time to search it out but there is a YouTube video out there of a Taker interview & he said he has personal issues with Lesnar. I don't think he was saying that in character; got the feeling he didn't like him at all. But you guys would know more probably about that.

The word at today's Wrestlemania media conference was that WWE will repeat last year and announce a major match for Wrestlemania 29 in New Jersey on Raw this Monday. It wasn't specifically said but several people, while being interviewed, strongly hinted at it to different media sources.
Either Rock Brock or Austin Punk will be announced, I believe it'll be Rock Brock as that is much bigger for the mainstream media than Punk, Austin would be.

Have no wish to see Austin wrestle again. He can cut great promos though but even if he got the go-ahead medically to wrestle I wouldn't expect much from him wrestling-wise. But money talks.
I never liked Lesnar even when he was on the roster. I would rather they just stick Michaels in there than Austin.

The big match for Mania 29 wouldn't shock me at all if it was Austin vs. Punk.
They've both been tweeting about it and just last week, or earlier this week, Punk said something about facing Austin at 29 and Austin responded that if the stars aligned right he'd be in New York with a whole can of whip *** for Punk.
Something to that effect.
So I wouldn't be shocked, in the least, if that's what winds up happening.

I would not put a guy in the biggest match of the year who has the physical issues Austin has. So basically they would have him do nothing for a whole year. Maybe come out & stun Miz or somebody a few times a year without having a hand laid on him of course. At the very least they do know Rock can still wrestle. I get the appeal the guy has but he could never hang with Punk in a match. No way.

Personally I couldn't care less about people's mainstream attention or attractions. I'd rather they stick with the big time names for wrestling with main stream appeal like Rock and Cena.
I don't care about adding Brock cause it might bring in a few UFC fans. There are plenty of big matches by big names in wrestling that would draw more than enough.
Punk vs. Austin would be HUGE.

This is my predictions for Mania all the way to Mania29:
Taker will win, and if this isn't his last match, next years Mania will be.
The Punk/Jericho storyline leads me to believe this will set up Punk to turn heel and go back to his "straightedge" character. Therefore making him the perfect foe for Austin and lead up to Mania29. I have read "reports" that WWE wants to announce the "main event" for Mania29 very soon, as they did last year with Rock/Cena. Austin/Punk is my guess. I can already see it. Austin comes out, stuns...idk let's say Lauranitis, starts chuggin brewskies. Then Punk comes out to confront him. Saying stuff like "You think you can just come out here whenever you want and do what you want?...you remind me of my Father, an alcoholic-bully...and I hated my Father..." And that will get things rolling to Mania29. The promos(there would be at least 9 months worth) would be epic, the one backstage back&forth he had with Punk at that one RAW was short, but very good. And Austin has said he has one more good match left in him. And that he will never get back in the ring unless he knew he could give a good performance.
And for The Rock, its been reported he has a very very busy movie schedule this year. So I doubt he does much this year after Sunday.
Lesnar...idk about this. He left a bad taste in a lot of people's mouths the way he left WWE. Which is probably the reason Taker doesn't like him on a personal level. But, McMahon isn't stupid. He knows he can make a lot of $$$ if he came back, same with Goldberg or Batista.
But I hope if they do have somebody coming back and plan on saving it for the following RAW....please dont show an advtervisment for it during Mania!!! PLEASE!!! They blew it when they did that for Goldberg when he showed up back in the day. If they woulda let it be a surprise, it would have come out a lot better IMO.

Brock would draw a heck of a lot more than a few UFC fans. They bring out Goldberg and I would just be like why, if Goldberg went to TNA that would be interesting. Who would Goldberg feud with in WWE that would be interesting? Goldberg-Sting, Goldberg-Hogan i'd like to see.
Lesnar could feud with Cena, Rock, Taker, Orton and draw tens of millions for the company. They know that. Goldberg would have a few alienated TNA fans and ex-WCW fans watch. He would not be a draw at all.

Also reported they signed Fit Finley.
So my guess is one of them will be the replacement in Team Johnny...probably Lesnar. I just can't see McMahon allowing the "Main Event" they have been pushing for over 11 months to end with a run-in, even if its by Lesnar. But Now that I read Lesnar signed a one year deal, I see his stay ending with him losing to Taker at Mania29.

Easily can just walk down after the match and have a standoff with Undertaker, but I have difficulty believing they will have him re debut and it not being the closing moment of the show. I think after Rock-Cena ends we see him come out and hit both with the F5 and then it goes off with Lesnar standing dominant in the ring. At Mania29 it will really be TAKER vs....
THE MAN CALLED STING!!!(his signing a new deal with TNA is just a storyline, his deal expires at the end of 2012...)
Lesnar had man boobs in his fight with Overeem a few months back wonder what kind of shape he's inn now. They could have had that ending to the Rhodes Big show snooze fest rather then 2 guys who can actually put on a good match, but it was really funny so who cares.
Surprised they gave The Rock a clean win, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. For a year leading up to this i was 100% sure he was only there to build up super Cena even more. Why have the guy who's not even going to be around beat your top guy?
HHH taker was the best match by far, amazing how you know who is going to win and yet they make it exciting anyways, that's greatness
Yes it is. That is how you seperate the truly great from the guys who are just real good.
I was very surprised, and disappointed, that they actually let The Rock win last night. It just doesn't make sense to me, on any level, for him to have beaten Cena.
I mean...whoopie. The Rock won. Yay. Now we'll see him again sometime around Mania next year. Awesome.
Doesn't really do much for me. I guess he could be on RAW tonight but if he's on RAW tonight and it's just to set up another year long crap with Cena for next year....ugh.....right now that's my biggest worry. That they're just going to do Rock vs. Cena II next year.
Just doesn't make sense unless The Rock was coming out tonight to inform the world that he was coming back to wrestling full time, which we all know isn't going to be happening.
Just dumb booking, IMO.

and this means what?
You traded in one internet rumor site for another?
The sooner you stop taking these internet sites as gospel the better off you'll be.
The point is it doesn't matter which one you took as the truth there was never any shot of Lesnar being involved in Rock vs. Cena last night.
Eh...maybe...maybe not.
It's two of the best performers ever in a match that each year for the last 4 years has been very very difficult to top.
1 because of whose in it and 2 just because of the mystic of the entire thing.
I mean Punk and Jericho have nothing to be ashamed about. They put on a dang fine match up. It's just tough to put on a show bigger than Takers streak at WM.
Actually I thought he did a fantastic job of selling the importance of the match up and just how stressful it was to know what they would have to do to one another to win it.
I didn't think he was the highlight of the match or anything but I thought he added a very nice background of emotion to the importance and emotion of the match up.

Remove the first hour which was a big let down and it was the best mania in years. The dumb raw v sd match was bad too. They need to go ahead and merge the world and wwe titles, the whc opening mania is a joke.
HHH-Taker was so good it was a good show based on its merit alone, Jericho-Punk delievered and Rock-Cena had great crowd interaction.

I hope Cena turns heel. I th ink Rock winning was just something unexpected. Most thought Johnny Do Good would win but he didn't. Now he can switch to something different out of losing and it'll be ok. It won't affect the sale of those green shirts. Rock is just like Taker. He can show up when he wants, to do what he wants and fans are gonna love it because when he's not there it's just not as good. So you love the small doses of these guys coming back here and there because it's more entertaining. Shawn is the same. You want to see those guys.

Overall there I pretty much agree.
I as pretty surprised by the WHC opening the show and then even more surprised that they had Bryan lose it in like 15 seconds.
I feel bad for both of those guys, especially Sheamus, whose worked hard to get to be on Mania only to get to be in a match that took 15 seconds. Dang shame.
The RAW vs. SD for the GM thing went pretty much how I expected. Just a bunch of silly spots, chaos, and nothing good. Pure filler. I hate how they're buring Ryder though. Just a shame that they're wasting this guy.
I actually rather enjoyed the Big Show vs. Rhodes and Kane vs. Orton matches. The Kane vs. Orton wasn't quite as good as I thought it was going to be but I still felt it was pretty good and I was actually pleasantly surprised to see them give Kane a clean W over Orton.
I was definately happy to see Big Show finally get a big win at WM. He definately deserved it.
All and all the only head scratchers to me in the whole show were booking the WHC to open the show, and to send so quickly, and Rock going over Cena.

Yes I want to see them.
But you'll notice a difference when some people come back and what they did with Rock.
HBK in his final two Mania's went out to put over Taker and his Streak. He went out putting someone else over who would be there more than him.
When Foley returns from time to time it's always been to put someone over. You don't see Foley coming back for WM matches to beat guys who are there all the time. He did a great job of putting Orton and Edge over at different PPVs (Edge was at Mania in fact) on some of his returns.
Rock should have been there to put Cena over. There is no way around that. Rock will be on RAW tonight probably and then you won't see a thing from him for probably 8 or 9 months.
Rock is in that same place that Foley, HBK, Stone Cold, and others are to where he doesn't need to win matches anymore for people to still want to see them return and be part of shows.
I'm right there with you on wanting to see Cena turn heel because I think it would be the best thing for him at this point. But either way there is just no reason to put the Rock over him last night.

rock did put Cena over. For the first time in a long time Cena actually cut some nice promos during the build up. He's been harping on he "had" to win.it meant everything to him. He works harder, he's been there longer and on and on.
if John had won it would have just been back to the same old crap. Now there is an opportunity for them to change his gimmick even if only a little bit.
Rock will be there tonight. We'll see what happens.

I was disappointed that there was no money in the bank match. the Brodus segment was lame. The women's match was lame...wish Trish could have been there instead.
Teddy vs John had some nice moments, could have been a little better, but all in all, what I expected. I can't believe the Miz is undefeated. I wonder if they are going to keep him that way for a while.
I missed the first match, my feed messed up....but I am glad Shaemus beat Bryan.
I was glad to see the Big Show win and not be made to look like a big goof, as in past Wrestlemanias.
It was great to see Orton lose, not because I was rooting against him, but because I expected him to win....I like when the WWE gives me a twist at the end of the match that I wasn't expecting.
I knew Taker would win, and the match was awesome. All 5 matches involving those 3 have been very good, EPIC even.
Punk/Jericho was great. I didn't think they would use a submission to end it....nice surprise.
The Rock/Cena was awesome. I didn't know who would win.....Rock was at home and Cena lost last year and is the face of the company.....still an all around great match and I was very much entertained.
One quick question, who won the Tag Title Dark Match before the PPV?

What is your problem with Del Rio. He is a very good heel character. He has also shown to be a pretty good wrestler. I love his potential as a major heel for years to come. I do not know if he has the versatility to go both ways like HBK, HHH, Stone Cold, and the Rock.....but as a heel, he is definitely an up and comer.
The one that bores the hell out of me is Orton. He always has. Don't get me wrong, he is a good wrestler and versatile as a face/heel, but I just don't care for him. His matches tend to have that "Whatever" factor for me.

the only negative from the Cena/Rock match was the commentary......the announcers claiming Cena has the strength and power edge....and Cena would overpower the Rock.....
I know Cena is strong, one of the strongest in the business....but the Rock is strong as well. IMO, their strength is a wash. I thought it was poor preparation by the announce team.....
Instead, they should have used the conditioning angle....Cena was in wrestling condition, while the Rock would suffer from ring rust and that is why he looked so winded out there.
They botched it though.......but other than that aspect of the match, It was a great match.
Speaking of announcers....I miss Solie, Gorilla, Heenan, Ventura.....I miss when they actually used to call the match and tell you what was going on in the match (background info on the wrestlers, in-ring maneuvers, etc.) instead of all the conversational mindless drivel that they do now. King and Cole are horrible. Ross was pretty good, but even he needs to be put out to pasture.

http://www.gerweck.net/2012/04/03/jim-ross-requested-to-call-hiac-match-at-wrestlemania/
By the time Jim Ross left his home to go to Florida, he thought he wouldn’t be a part of WrestleMania except for watching it like a fan. What he didn’t know was that the Undertaker, Triple H, and Shawn Michaels were pressuring the powers that be to have him call the “end of an era” Hell in a Cell match. And when three of the most successful and powerful Superstars all want it, you bet your *** it’s going to be granted. “WWE upper mgmt made it happen. It was confirmed late Friday night,” Jim Ross wrote on Twitter, revealing that it was all three of them who requested his presence ringside and to do play-by-playof the match.

Guy Ramsey is reporting that WrestleMania did 1.9m buys.
Gus Ramsey of ESPN wrote the following in his Twitter:
"accidentally deleted my earlier tweet. Rock and Brock each sign 1 year deals. WM28 did 1.9M buys. WWE was targeting 1.5M"
If that ends up being the case, WWE certainly has a lot to be happy about.
