As a youth I did a few daring things. I was kind of an adrenaline junkie for a while. You've got a clean slate of health, no fear. What kind of daring deeds would you like to do?
For me it would have to be that squirrel suit thing. Yeah, I've seen the video where he hits the rocks, but that just looks like too big a rush for me to say no to if I was a younger man and could.

That would be fun and I would love to do that at least once, but if I had to choose one I would do repeatedly, it would be the insane downhill mountain biking.

Another is the trick jumps on motorcycles. I did regular jumps, but the flips and stuff are just too fun to watch.

Stunt driver for movies.
I'm young and healthy, but I still won't do a lot of things, haha.
Skydiving is probably the best adrenaline rush I have ever had. It's amazing.

Skydiving is still on my To Do list, but the most awesome experience I've ever had has to be scuba diving at 40 feet of the cost of the Grand Cayman. It's not a huge high speed crazy adrenaline rush, but it was completely and utterly awe inspiring.

I also did that at Grand Cayman, and I completely agree. It was crazy how clear the water was.
I nearly ran out of air while the rest of the group still had half a tank. Apparently I don't know how breathe underwater :laugh2:

same here. I'd climb up those giant radio towers and work on them and then climb rocks for fun :)

Climbing the face of rocks would be amazing if you had the mentality for it.
That would be an awesome rush.

I've done pre and post hurricane big wave surfing (20+ feet). That is the most dare-devil thing I've done to date.
The squirrel suit thing would trump that though.

I don't know if my ears could take it but something like Hand Gliding, Parasailing or sky diving sounds like it would be a blast. Maybe driving a gyrocopter. Something along those lines.
Although not dare devil activity, hopefully this summer I will get to do some snorkeling...my ears will probably make me pay but if I get the chance I got to try it.

I would like to fly for the Blue Angels, now that would be a total blast. The squirrel suit thing looks pretty fun too. Probably anything that involved speed and height would suit me just fine.

Good call on the blue angles. Heck I would be happy to be able to go for a ride with one of them.

I'll ask one of my buddies if they have anything. I know they took some photos, but we are talking > 15 years ago. I recall several people on the beach with a "bazooka" lens. But I'm not sure about video.
I think once they even got some photos from a helicopter.
Get this, the son of a long-time childhood friend of mine was runner up at the Pipeline Masters 2 years ago. Last name is Barley.

This.
I've surfed some decent sized waves, cleared 80ft gaps on a snowboard, and raced cars.....but that would be a whole different level.

Sam, when you have the time, can you explain to me exactly where are the mavericks? I evidently live within 30 miles of them here in Pacifica, CA. I have been out a few times to see those 50+ ft waves to no avail.

You are about 2-4 miles from it. :laugh2:
Mavericks on Google Maps (http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_cp.r_qf.,cf.osb&biw=1600&bih=781&q=37.4920%C2%B0+N,+122.5006%C2%B0+W&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hq=&hnear=0x808f72498330bab5:0xebb0a8c987781418,%2B37% C2%B0+29'+49.98%22,+-122%C2%B0+29'+53.95%22&gl=us&ei=GXZzT6_SHef10gGm9Oz_Ag&sa=X&oi=geocode_result&ct=title&resnum=1&ved=0CB8Q8gEwAA)
The huge waves only happen after a large winter storm in the northern Pacific or a typhoon or something near Japan. Sometimes it can take a few days before the waves arrive at Mavericks. So, when you see a huge winter storm, you can expect the waves to arrive somewhere between 24 and 72 hours depending on how far out the storm is.
EDIT: I will be in San Francisco in April. We are going to rent a car and go up to Muir Woods and maybe Napa Valley. I might take a spin down to Mavericks too while I'm there.

Great, thanks. I knew I was always near them, just had no idea how to actually get to the beach, there aren't many signs that say "this way to the mavericks" heh

If I remember, I don't think there is much of a beach there either. It's generally not very safe due to all the rocks.

It was hard growing up watching guys like Evel Knievel and not want to go do itI could tell you some stories about jumping that you'd enjoy. I used to love to do it. We all did because of Evel. Furthest I ever jumped was about 80 feet on a Yamaha XT 500. Never was great at it, but did have some fun.

Myself. I would get kids (younger than me) to lay down between the home made ramps and jump them. :laugh2:
Only reason I pointed out younger than me you it was hard to find people dumb enough to do it. :laugh2:
I would say my max jump on a motor cycle was about 25 yard wide creek.

Worst jump on a bike, hitting the ramp and the front tire came off while in mid air. I held it for a few seconds then the front end came down forks stuck into the pavement and I went over the handle bars

Try peddling your bike has hard and fast as you can with your head down and not looking where you are going...then BOOM....run into the back of a parked car.
Hurts like hell...and it broke my handlebars.

Was at my grandparents as a youth. They had an old bike that had the banana seat and the handle bars that are kind of like the ape hangers on motorcycles. I decided to try and get some speed up and ramp it off a small retaining wall...bad idea.:laugh2: knocked the breath out of me and I thought I was going to die until I got my breath back.
