Our best player Mr.Roy Williams,if this new rule is passed the "roywilliams" rule,it is seriously gonna hamper is play.
Not because thats his only way of playing,but becacuse how can he hit somebody if he has to worry about hitting to hard,
if he has to mkae sure how he brings them down is correct that he's grabbing the right way, not to hard,
This is silly and crappy and i fear in the beginning of the season,roy is not gonna be the roy we know.
We need to find a FS and a DL, because if roy isnt gonna be the same then we need guys to cover and create pressure till he gets back to his game

Actually, if he's playing near the LOS he won't be chasing as much as he had to last year.

REAL FOOTBALLAre we gonna start crying about this crap again? Roy made it to where he is by knocking people out of their cleats, not by pulling people down from behind.

how many times did roy have to use this technique? maybe 3 times. the rule won't be a big deal. he can afford the fine if one is assessed.

I think it is high time that we made this game into the flag football game that Paul Tagleabue has long envisioned. However, if a Cowboy (say Terrance Newman for instance) starts to catch too many flags they will make a new Tarrance Newman rule that says you can't take the flag if you have to leave your feet to grab it while at the same time shortening the length of the flag.
This is a ridiculous rule :mad:

Dargon no need to worry.......Roy will make any ajustments necessary(none) and will be just fine.

its a stupid rule but it wont change how he plays alot...he probably tackled 3 or 4 times like that all year...if its all he could do to get a guy down it'd be different...

If Roy is the player we think he is, this will not be an issue. Now if he sucks a** next year, he's got a built-in excuse as to why his play drops off.
Personally, I think he'll be somewhat average until after the 1st quarter of the season and he's had to get to use to his tackling technique. After that I expect to see him in a groove.

How many Cowboy's fans wanted Roy to be drafted because he could horse collar tackle?

I bet if the Cowboys were leadin the Eagles 28-24 with 30 seconds left in the game and Owens busted loose and the only way he could be stopped is with a horse collar tackle. You would rather see us lose the game and see Owens get in the endzone then for us to save the win by usin a horse collar.
I don't think roy is even our best player anymore.

Okay..the cowboy jumping must be in full effect. Honestly with the other problems of this team, you think someone like RW cant adjust? ARe you kidding me, we need to worry about him taking them down vs knocking the cleets off them? If thats something your concerned about you have no faith in him and our coaching staff. He'll adjust and do what he has to do.I just saw a TE almost put up 1000 yards and be our only consistant player on offense. I saw hom overcome mediocre recievers and a sub par qb. Roy is still living off his rookie year. He will most likely dominate once he is moved to SS, but he hasn't proved himself enough to me. Jason Witten or LAroi Glover or Ellis are by far the best players on this team. Heck, I honestly think Roy hasn't even been our best DB the past two years. Newman is asked to do so much more than him. Again, the best SS in the game plays FS for the cowboys imo, but he is unproven...

I think your overreacting and need to know your looking at one of the best young safties in the game whether you liek it or not. ANd Witten put up nice yards, yes, but thats not stopping TD's from happening, and thats not helping with sacks. Each is two different jobs with different responsibilites. Witten lost a good cast as well but what really hurt this iffense was no Running game. What hurt RW was no RCB and saftey back there to help him out, so he had to stop td's on his own most of the times. and if you think RW is unproven im sorry it just seems your pulling things out and throwing it up the wall to see what sticks. this guy has done everything asked of him without complaint and hes been a team player and good leader back there.

Don't worry - it won't change the way he plays. He doesn't use that technique except when he's coming from behind, and hopefully at SS he'll be nailing people head-on, more often. In fact, I suspect that he won't change his game at all; if it comes down to it, he'll probably just eat the 15 yard penalty and move on.

He only made 3 or 4 tackles like that in his entire career, so I fail to see how this is going to significantly hamper his play.

I say you guys stop getting your panties in a knot over this. Roy will be fine. There are plenty of players on this team and not on this team that will give us lots of gray hairs.

Also, why don't you give newman the same benefit of the doubt you give Roy? Roy might have to overcome a poor RCB, while newman has to overcome no true fs. But Roy is one of your favorite players (he is mine too) so he gets a free pass.
