Im not really against drafting Poe or anything but I keep hearing that his on the field play doesn't match up with his measurables.

Does anyone feel differently or is this a consensus?

I haven't seen much of the guy so i'd like others opinions of him.

Jerry made it sound like he is a very dynamic DL.

Like most bigmen with crazy measurables he has a questionable motor and work ethic and his effort is streaky at best. I would stay far away.

His movement skills are rare for a player at 350lbs or so.

I've heard him mentioned with the likes of Ngata but no idea how his film compares. He didn't dominate like he should have at Memphis(was he doubled).

Poe is a player that is intriguing in this draft.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I pondered, weak and weary, the drafting of Poe made me leary.

If I remember correctly, Ngata's movement wasn't nearly as good. It was his sheer size and power teams loved. he also had much better production. He may be bigger, but Poe wants to and will play more like Rat.

He didn't have any help on defense. We gave up almost 50 pts per game.

Maybe the Cowboys think that drafting Poe helps 2 positions if they decide to move Rat to DE???

Ah so you're a Memphis fan?

Could you go into a little detail about Poe? Would you take him top 15?

poe numbers are sick for someone his size. How does his number compare to albert hayseworth(sp?) when he came out?

I don't think he even worked out at the combine.

I really don't know much about him. Our games weren't on tv and the ones that were on were over as soon as the other team scored first.

I watch Path to the Draft on the NFL network on two different episodes weeks apart.

Mayock looked at film after the combine and said Poe had no help and he thought the film matched the workout. That's when he moved Poe up.

This week they asked Casserly and the talking head mentioned how sometimes a workout doesn't translate to the field. Casserly said when he saw the film he saw a good motor and thought he saw the same guy on filmas he saw in the workouts. He said his explosion shows up on tape.

Casserly also said he likes Blockers, but Brockers doesn't have explosion that Poe and Cox have.

Copied from wikipedia:

At Tennessee's Pro Day in 2002, when he was just 20 years old, Haynesworth measured at 6-foot-6, 317 pounds, ran a 4.82 40-yard dash, had a 39-inch vertical jump and an 8-foot, 7-inch broad jump.

Have you read the draft bio on Poe on thehuddlereport.com?

Interesting take. It's the free analysis on the right hand side.

DING, DING, DING!!!! I think this is what they're thinking if they draft Poe. Maybe Sdogo/Hostile can confirm? ...but this is what I feel they are thinking.

Haloti had double the tackles at 61
Poe had only 31.

Says something about the impact they had on the game. Oregon could have been a stronger defense overall, and maybe Poe was double triple teamed but it didn't seem like it.

It's actually better than that IMO. Poe could play anywhere along the line. They could switch up a lot, with Ratliff at the nose and Poe at DE on one down and then vice versa on the next. Ngata's base position is DE but he moves around quite a bit, unless I'm mistaken. Ryan could really exploit that versatility.

Poe can also play the five technique.

I love how comparisons are always upwards with Ngata.

What about all the big fat NTs who just sucked?

Theres an entire game against Tulane online and not much worth watching.

AZxD_uV5kyk

Just not worth the pick at #14.

Basically picking a guy based on nothing but potential.

he seems very inconsistent, sometimes he gets off quickly and other times he is so slow.I dont think we can afford to take a risk on him @ 14.

Well I will have to give credit to Edgar Allen Poe, for the first part.

I copied it straight over ctrl+c style. Now I didn't check the source, and I agree that's a little crazy.
