Talk about a fall from grace.

Former San Diego Chargers (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/sd/san-diego-chargers) quarterback Ryan Leaf (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/1427/ryan-leaf) was arrested Friday and charged with felony burglary, misdemeanor theft and criminal possession of dangerous drugs

my husband went to the same high school as leaf & once called him a rotten name(insert word that rhymes with stick)right to his face. he's not surprised that this happened.

edit: here's the article from my local newspaper:

At least the article doesn't say "Former Cowboy QB".

Though quite obviously an oversight by the paper.

I read about this arrest on Twitter and had forgotten he was a Cowboy at one point. The article I clicked on showed him in a Dallas Cowboy's uniform. The article said that he had a brain tumor removed last Summer. Sounds like he may have an addiction to pain pills. Maybe the brain surgery contributed to the relapse? I hope he gets help.

Ryan Leaf is as messed up by his addiction(s) as Art Schlichter has been by his. Leaf just needs to be locked up for crimes committed, with no more chances given. Not trying to be ignorant, but every break he's been given has been abused, it seems, just like it was with Schlichter.

Some guys can't or won't learn and going easy on them doesn't do the trick, sad to say.

They say a person has to hit rock bottom to change. These two guys don't seem to have one.

They hit a hard spot, stop for a few months/years, buy a shovel, and keep digging.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to hear that he's drowned in a hotel bathroom someday or had a massive coronary.

You'd think an addict of his level would have found himself a doctor to write scripts for him.

He did, but they intercepted his twice weekly $500 'gift' packages from Florida, thats what got the whole Montana investigation rolling.

Have to feel sorry for the guy, a grown man, nationally known, breaking into strangers homes (two days after an arrest mind you) to steal prescription drugs.

I won't comment on how many homes probably have prescriptions of these types lying around, other than to say that it's a sad state of affairs.

Anyway, he is obviously hopelessly addicted to a very very addictive group of drugs, i don't have any experience but from what one reads pharmaceuticals are extremely dangerous.

Sad.

Why is the post office reporting that Leaf was getting packages delivered? Was there any indication that the packages were dangerous? Sounds like too much big brother to me.

Not defending Leaf but why is it the PO's biz to monitor how many packages someone may be getting?
