Are there any 1st-round caliber guys big enough to play NT in the 3-4 other than Poe? Poe has unbelievable size and athleticism but he hasn't really shown he is a good player. Brockers was a star in college but reports I've seen have him listed at 305 lbs. That's still pretty small for a NT. So who else is out there?

Brockers could be 335 lbs with no problem.

Fletcher Cox grades out high on film with quickness and agility but measures in a little light for a true 3/4 NT, around 300 lbs.

Then there is the wild card of the bunch, borderline 1st round grade 3/4 NT possibility Jerel Worthy 310.

Honestly, Poe's even a bit tall for a regular NT.

I'm sorry, but this draft completely blows this year, especially for DL and pass rushers. I'll be surprised in more than a handful of teams have actual first round grades for more than 15 or so plyers.

This is why Dallas is thinking trade-down, because at 14 there will only be handful of guys worth a frtst round grade, but at positions where Dallas has no need. They could dangle that 14th pick for a sucker's ransom.

the best value in this draft is to have multiple second and third round picks. Trading #14 to get more of those may be Dallas' best option. This is also why Dallas went so heavy in free agency this season, to not have to rely on a weak draft class that most likely won't yield them a first round starter.

According to this:

your better value is at 95, 199, 268...

And maybe 217....

Poe is a hair over 6'4. That is not too tall at all.

Now Brockers is an example of a guy who is too tall to play NT.

Has there ever been a draft where someone hasn't said the exact same thing?

Brandon Thompson is another guy with a late 1st Round grade who may be an option. I think he'll be a stud as a 4-3 NT but I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility for him to play 3-4 NT. He's got a low center of gravity at 6-2 314 and is tough to move, with good lateral movement.

The physicality isn't lacking, NFL Combine Numbers for the 2012 D-Line are off the Charts.

It all depends on what you want in a NT. Dallas has used the up-the-field type, more of a one-gap, and they do not need to be as big. It is not like the Steelers who want that squatty 2-gap guy that plugs the interior.

Poe is the only 1st round squatty type and he would need to be coached up to do that...definitely not ready early. Ta'amu could do it. Chapman is probably the most ready right now. Mike Martin. Nicolas Jean-Baptiste. Meatoaga. There are a few, mostly middle rounders.

If you want the gap shooters, you have Brockers, Worthy, Still, and quite a few that should start leaving in the 20s and carry on through the 3rd/4th rounds.

Not a great draft at the top this year. Decent depth in some areas like DL, OL, WR, CB, RB, and QB. Weak TE, S, C, and OLB draft IMO. I like the ILBs.

Unless Vince Wilfork is in the draft there isn't a reason to draft a NT in the 1st. I do not see any Wilforks in this draft. I can find a middle to late round NT that could start day one.
