View Full Version : Pick just 1 player

not 2, 3, or 4....not and/or/but....just give me the 1 player you want most for the Cowboys to draft.....

now please be reasonable and consider prospect rankings....

for me, the player I want more than any player in this draft, and for the first time in several years it isn't a defensive player.....

OG David DeCastro

I want a wall in front of Romo and the QB after him. Smith and DeCastro will be that wall for the next decade plus.....I feel like a rabid dog, I'm salivating so much at the thought of this......

I like your pick the best

However

I got this from another board, and this could work too. "I think we should take Dontari Poe if he is still available and take Donta Hightower in the second round."

Can get him in the 2nd,

Glenn is also available for a 1st and can play RT.

Zeitler and Osemele are also available and you don't have to use a 1st rounder on them. Osemele you might not even have to use a 2nd.

Thus why I prefer Barron. We have not had a true safety in years and this guy does it all. Has been a champ more than once, makes big plays, would lead our secondary like Woody did and is an enforcer like Woody was.

Harrison Smith is not Mark Barron and there is no other safety in this draft that touches this guy. He played at that level with a sports hernia and other lingering injuries. Durable at all costs and was a man amongst boys in college.

Look at Alabama players, LSU players, most of the Auburn players from the other year are gone, Florida players, Oklahoma players, Texas. These are the schools that are always in the mix to win it all and it's for 2 good reasons. (1) They have the pedigree of coaches to develop the winning system and players. (2) They have the pedigree of player talent and leadership to win championships.

I think Hightower is a guy who could slip unexpectedly on draft day. If Pittsburgh or Baltimore don't take him where is he going? He is best utilized in a 3-4 and as we saw in free agency, linebackers that are not edge rushers are not in high demand.

New England is full at ILB. 49ers? Pack? The next pure 3-4 team is KC in the 40's.

A 265lbs linebacker that rushes on 3rd down instead of covering does not fit many schemes. Is he going to be a better pass rusher than your 2/3rd d end?

2 down backer for the Giants? The Colts could take him but I could definitely see them going all offense early because they lost about 8 starters and Luck could get killed.

I think Decastro is the next Hutchinson at guard. Guy you pick and plug in there and he is all-pro in his 2nd or 3rd year and plays for you for 15 years.

I think Hightower can have an impact this year at any LB position and can replace Spencer next year. Cox and DeCastro would be solid picks but I think Hightower can be a future leader on defense.

Not with our first pick, but maybe with a move up from 45:

Hightower.

Intensity, intangibles, leadership, enthusiasm, intimidation, brute force, smarts, and versatility. All our defense has been needing.

Take the BPA at 14 and then move up to take Hightower.

Rob Ryan would have a blast using this guy all over the place.

Gonna stay away from the obvious 1st round guys and look at later in the draft.

Boykin can be had in 2nd round, but may slip to the 3rd. Would love to have him as a nickel corner and Kick returner. He is electric at returns, and should develop to a starting corner next year if/when Jenkins leaves via free agency. Fills two holes that are deeply needed.

I'd just like to address the safety position sufficiently and not have to worry about bringing in retreads every offseason. I think he starts from day 1 and makes our defense a lot better.

Just go DE in round 2 and OG in round 3, and call it a day. I just can't justify going DeCastro in round 1.

He's got to drop first. I would scoop him up also.

Put another 5-10 lbs on him and we have a hell of a 3-4 pass rushing DE.

Better than J.J Watt. Yes, I mean it. :D

I just don't think he's going to drop to us. Too talented and was going to be a top 5 pick for good reason.

Thanks!

Burfict is definitely a cannon. Only 6th down I would select him. Might actually humble him. Plus if he acted up he could be disposed of with no overly impactful loss.

I like his game tape but it did hurt to throw his bad character in there. He may not even get drafted. He is very talented nonetheless, yet extremely dirty.

Hmm, it isn't worth it. Doubt he's on my update. lol!

Let's see. No, DeCastro means Romo goes down with broken collar bone in week two. In steps Kyle Orton for three games and goes out with concussion after throwing all balls into the cheap seats. In steps third string Quarter Back (?) to finish season with the defense scoring all the touch downs . Yep, lets pass on DeCastro!!!:)

This scenario brings the cowboys record to 5 and 11 for season.
