The world of NFL Football is right for the moment. The suspensions should have been upheld, they were upheld. Yet to come: the suspensions for the players involved. They must be hating the wait, knowing the hammer comes down on them very soon. You do the crime, you pay the fine.

As expected. I never thought for a second that they'd back down from these.

I'm not so sure players will be suspended, but I would imagine some fines are coming at a minimum.

According to the league, Saints defensive captain Jonathan Vilma offered $10,000 to any player who knocked then-Vikings QB Favre out of the 2010 NFC championship game.
That's gotta bring at least ONE player suspension. Vilma will be the poster child for Goodell's wrath against any players involved in the Saints 'Bounty Scandal' I would think. As far as other players go, who knows? You may be right.

I'm in the opposite camp. I think people were rightly surprised at the severity of the first punishments and will be wrongly surprised by this round. There is nothing to suggest this won't be severe.

Agreed that Vilma will likely get the biggest punishment and it has to get players to take notice and change their behavior so I expect a big suspension. I will guess 6-8 games.

Yeah, Vilma will get hit. I'm just saying I don't expect there to be broad sweeping suspensions for guys that might've gotten paid for a big hit or something.

they may be suspended but will still appeal and it has to be proven they did anything wrong

This isn't really a surprise consider the fact that the guy who gave the initial punishment is also the guy who decides the appeals. To paraphrase A Few Good Men:
"Mr. Commissioner, I strenuously object."
"Oh, you strenuously object - well in that case I better reconsider my decision!"
