The idea of drafting an athlete like DeCastro and potentially playing him next to 2011 first-round pick Tyron Smith at left tackle has to sound mighty intriguing.

Barron falls to #27? Goose said yesterday that Barron is ranked higher on NFL boards than DeCastro.

The more I read of Wes Bunting the less impressed I am by him.

I don't recall a player, without out major character concerns, being slotted to so many different teams as Barron.

It seems like it is a daily joke on NFLN as they all laugh about how he has been predicted to go to so many different teams and at so many different locations of the first round. I think one guy even laughed and said that he can't play for every team.

On the subject of DeCastro, I'd like some opinions.

Say this fan gets his wish and we do draft him.

Would you want to put him on the left side next to Smith or would you prefer to keep him at right guard where he played in college?

I think personally I would want a more veteran presence next to Smith - playing left tackle for the first time at the pro level - and DeCastro, playing for the first time at the pro level period.

Maybe in year 2, when both players have better adapted I would do it but I don't think I would do it this year.

IMO, you put him on the right side and let him adapt to the game. Having Smith at LT is going to allow you to put the weaker OG on the left side. Smith is not going to need much assistance going forward. It also would benefit the running game, you solidify both sides of the line and make the left side the power side with DeCastro's pulling and trapping ability.

Cox a Eagle scares me......even Barron a Eagle scares me.

If all 3 are on board when we pick......

I dont know what to do....take best player rated by our scouts? or take our biggest need the team thinks we need to fill?

Plus Livings' experience is at left guard. I'm not sure why you would flip flop both projected starting guards to the sides they are least familiar with.

he would be a center...I don't think he will be anything special at guard

Stanford already runs alot of the power formations that we run so there wouldn't be much of a learning curve.
