They don't like the TEs... really don't like the idea of Dallas reaching for need in a 2nd TE in crappy TE class.
It's a bad group," said one scout from a team with a more traditional run-pass attack. "(Dwayne) Allen is the only tight end. The rest of those guys are specialists."
Blackmon got significantly more 1st place votes than Floyd, but just barely edged him in total votes. It seems the teams that don't like Blackmon don't even have him ranked as the 2nd or even 3rd WR. I guess there are some teams terrified of the Air Raid and Big XII WR thing.
A total of 19 scouts were asked by the Journal Sentinel to rank the tight ends on a 1-to-4 basis, with a first-place vote worth five points and so on. Meanwhile, 20 scouts rated the wide receivers 1 to 5.
At tight end, Fleener received 17 firsts compared to two for Allen. At wide receiver, Justin Blackmon edged Michael Floyd in most firsts, 12-8.
Fleener had 73 points in all, followed by Allen, 58½; Orson Charles, 29; Egnew, 12½; Green, 11; James Hanna, three; DeAngelo Peterson, two; and Nick Provo, one.
Blackmon finished with 92 points. He was followed by Floyd, 85; Kendall Wright, 43; Rueben Randle, 26; Stephen Hill, 21; Alshon Jeffery, 20; Mohamed Sanu, five; A.J. Jenkins, four; T.Y. Hilton, two; and Joe Adams and Brian Quick, each one.
Broyles didn't crack their 12 listed WRs. Fleener didn't get the raves I was expecting.
