Draft week starter=Source tells me one Jones wants pass rusher w 1st pick, other Jones wants secondary help. Coach Garrett break tie?
Does this guy have credibility?
Anyway, one wants Barron and the other wants? Ingram? which other pass-rusher is worth #14?

I hope the pass rush Jones wins out.

Steve Dennis?
I would guess he's got some connections.

So much will depend on who is available at the time...we know there is always a surprise or two in there somewhere

My guess is Jerry is the one that wants secondary help given his statements on the defensive front. I wonder if it's a question of (a) sitting tight thinking Barron will be there and (b) trading up for Fletcher Cox.

Im guessing Jerry wants secondary and Stephen wants Pass rush.
Im wondering how much we like Brockers considering every NFL guy is so fascinated with see'ing him in the pro's.

There's no way they are depending on Ingram being available at 14. So that brings up the question of how interested are we in Mercilus or Perry.

Im sure they do but they probably don't see much value in round 1.
You gotta get the DB's and DL early.

Jerry doesn't want to pay Jenkins 10 million a year after 2012, so he wants a CB.
Stephen doesn't want to pay Spencer 9 million a year this year, so he wants a OLB.
We will see on Thursday.

That is a great point.
I don't think Jerry is much of a Mike Jenkins fan anyways. He's called him out on his toughness before.
I like Mike Jenkins but he isn't a leader type of guy but he'll play up or down to however the rest of the team is performing.

Yeah, no value if keeping your QB healthy.
Rather then try to make sure he isn't injured, just get a better backup.

No, it is just different than what all the successful teams in the league do. The fact that it hasn't worked in 16 years or so doesn't matter apparently.
I've been assured that Jerry is just a figurehead and his role is primarily to just "read reports" and call the draft picks.

Yeah, I'm guessing pass rusher is Cox and Barron/Kirkpatrick are secondary help. I wonder then, does that mean if we go one way in first round, does that mean we're looking for the other in the second?

We may see some arm bars, kimuras, and triangle chokes in the Cowboys War Room if Cox, DeCastro, and Barron are all there at #14.

I think you can find a quality interior OL, especially in this draft, outside of Round 1.
For example give me a Barron / Zeitler combo over Decastro / Harrison Smith

That was exactly what I was thinking.
Jerry doesn't like Jenkins but Spencer is okay because Spencer doesn't rock the boat.
Stephen wants the better player and wants to upgrade the weaker position.

I honestly wouldn't have a problem with Barron.
I would have a problem with most of the OLBs who are projected to be there.
I think you have to address a need when you have so many players who fit the different needs.
S, DL and OL have to be the pick.

Im kind of the same way.
When the draft process started I was all about getting another OLB but I really think we need DL, DB, and interior OL in that order.

Agreed. Cox is definitely a "potential" pass-rushing 5T, but Ingram (or even McLellin, Curry, & Irvin) are all proven pass rushers.

My thought exactly. I'm with not trading up and letting the draft come to us.
There's always a player who was thought to go in the top 10 falling to 11-15.
There's always a guy thought to go in the middle rounds falling between picks 32-50.
Rather bump the 2nd rounder up than the 1st rounder if that's what we're going to do. There will be a pass rusher or a very good o-lineman worth moving up for near the top of the 2nd.

That's my point. The original tweet is premised on the idea that Jerry, Stephen, and JG each get one equal vote. I think that's a silly understanding of how a front office makes decisions.

You get the best players PERIOD. Yeah good players are available in rds 2 and on. But your best bets and safest picks are in Rd 1. Why pass up the best player in the DRAFT at a position of NEED?

We just gave Carr 10 mill a year. Jenkins will get that. Especially now that teams have to spend a certain amount of cap money.

He hasn't been anywhere near as good as Carr. That is, unless he elevates his play considerably this year. Jenkins has been terrible for the past two seasons. He's not considered an upper echelon CB. Carr was considered a top 10 CB.
