during the weeks leading to the draft, seemed to be all about RB; Jackson, Jones (not Julius), Perry, et al. No one could have forseen the events of last year's draft. This year it seems all of the talk is DE or LB. My question is this... With all of the possible deals, what would be your guess on the draft if something freaky happens? Meaning we don't go DE or LB or "tweener"

Will it be offense? I think aside from the D, WR is the most pressing need. Thoughts...

PS. Happy early anniversary to the 'ZONE :D Wow this past year has really flown hasn't it? Here's to many more great ones for all of you! :beer2:

Even though we didn't really speak of Julius it was still in the realm of RB. This year the talk is about DEs and LBs and I am pretty sure we will take one of the following: Meriman, Ware, Pollock, or James. Where is anybody's guess.

I'd be happy with another CB, a WR, and a FS on day 1. However, i wonder if a bluechip DT prospect is there at #11 if we'd trade Glover for Howard straight up.

What makes you think the Saints would want glover?

It seems they are in the market for a MLB not a DT.

More importantly who exactly even comes close to being a "Blue Chip" DT in this draft worthy of being selected at 11?

I wouldn't trade Glover. We need to fix the dline not improve one position and weaken another.

Aside from the scenario I listed, I like the idea of giving up one of our picks, (preferably 20) for Howard or Abraham who are proven, rather than risking a wasted pick just for the sake of picking. I really do feel there is going to be some surprises out there for us. Something none of us really expects...

Um, the Saints released Glover 3 years ago. Now they want him back in trade for one of their best players? Doubt it.

It wouldn't shock me at all if we do something less than conventional. If anything, odds are strongly we'l go that direction than anything else.

Name a DT prospect and I'd be willing to bet you he's available at #11.

Doing something less than conventional has been the draft history of the franchise under Jerry Jones lately. It will be interesting to see how the draft plays out because we all can glean from our draft activites who really is running the "war room". If we trade down and use one of the extra picks to acquire a proven player like Abraham or Howard, I would suspect that Coach Parcells is truly making this a now or never year and fully has control of the reigns. If we trade down and use all picks on prospects then I suspect Mr. Jones is in control and thinking long term post-Parcells. Should be interesting in either case. Just hope that we don't overreact too much on this board as we (me included) did a year ago when we traded out of the 1st. In Parcells we must trust.

I agree that getting a WR is important also some more help on the O-line but I think the main area of need is the defensive side. Personally I think Dallas will address the defense and I think we will grab a WR in the draft and would not be surprised if that WR is a day 1 selection

I think the order of importance for us is...

DE
LB
FS
RT
WR

If we don't go with a LB or DE i see us going RT with out first pick

I think we would of taken Jackson last year , if we didnt trade our pick. We traded our pick and then Jones( the onther one) and Jackson were gone.

Julius slipped to us, and we were lucky!

I dont see us trading our picks this year , unless we get players or picks this year. Parcells aint in putting off another year!

Get you facts straight bro.

The Cowboys could have drafted Steven Jackson. He was on the board before they traded down. Infact the entire ESPN panel was shocked. The had the Jackson highlight keyed and ready to roll. Mike Golic looked like an idiot after Julius Jones came back and performed well after he ripped the Cowboys for passing on Jackson. He even ate crow on his radio show.

I'd stick to 2 liners you seem to get your facts wrong when you venture out.

Absolutely... But if we took someone like Antrell Rolle at #11 i wouldn't be complaining. He Cold play FS for s few years like Henry and Baxter did and move over when needed.

Alex Barron might not be the most exciting pick... but it might be the safest.

Not wild about drafting a SS, QB, RB or TE in the 1st round.

Another surprise might be a G, which might not be the worst pick in the long run.
