View Full Version : Speculation: Could Miami at 8 be a possible trade partner?

Many mock drafts have Carolina taking Fletcher Cox at 9 after Miami selects Ryan Tannehill at 8.
If Fletcher Cox is still available at 8, why wouldn't Miami trade out of the spot? They could play Carolina, Dallas, and Philly against each other, and at the very least, squeeze a late round pick out of Carolina while still getting their man.
I suppose Buffalo, KC, or Arizona could take Tannehill, so there might be some risk to trading back to 14 or 15, but it seems unlikely to me that would happen.
Miami could get a nice haul from trading back and still get the guy they want.

I could see Miami as the trading partner if we do go up.

I dunno, I'd think after so many years of not having a QB and trying to find one on the cheap, moving back would be a big risk to take. Their fans might riot if someone traded up ahead of them to take Tannehill and they had to go back to the scrap heap. (Not that I'm sold RT will be any good.)

I would do it--but I'd be happy with Brockers

Miami is a little rich for my blood. Too many picks would be lost to move there.

Agreed. And I think Miami is looking at doing just that. Of course, I think Cox is going at 7, with the Eagles trading with Jacksonville.

I think so.

Miami is have a hard time selling tickets, they need a QB badly to become the face of the team and bring excitement back to the team. Getting cute and missing out on a QB would not be good. Furthermore, I think Buffalo would love to take Tannehill and sit him behind Fitzpatrick for a year.

I think they would dare one of those guys to take Tannehill which they would not, but I don't think they could guarantee that the Browns would not come flying back up the board at 12 or 13.
KC should be trying to trade up to get Tannehill. They are a very good team everywhere but qb in a fairly bad division. They won't be picking this close to a good qb for a while and Cassel can get you to the playoffs, but I don't think he can win in the playoffs in a shootout with the Pats or against a Pittsburgh type d.

Yeah, but when you succumb to the pressure from the fan base, you reach and you lose. No way is Tannehill worthy of taking at 8. They could easily trade out of that spot and still get this guy. And I think they have a safety valve -- if they gamble and lose out on Tannehill, they just grab Brandon Weeden, who I like more anyway.
Buffalo just gave Fitzpatrick a big contract. You think they're pulling the plug on him just like that...for Tannehill? That makes no sense.
