Blocking Tampa from Richardson

Wow. They are definitely targeting someone at #3. I guess they thought some other team was going to trade up over them. Do you really think this is for Richardson?

Risen Star

They gave up three picks to move up one slot?

Those better be some late round picks.

i think the browns are looking at the QB tannehill

It is their 3rd rounder, not three picks it seems. Great deal for the Vikings.

Richardson should go to Cleveland. Now Minn can still get either Claiborne or Kahlil. And they get a 4th 5th and 7th

No way. It has to be Richardson.

I guess that will end the "give our first and fourth to move up a few picks" talk.

Of all the Brownie moves, that would be the Browniest.

the Browns have given up a 4th, 5th and 7th (as well as their first) for ONE spot

well done Vikings, panicked Cleveland into it

Gil Brandt was just talking about another trade that has been made that will be announced eventually -- someone moving up multiple picks in the first round for ONLY A THIRD.

Unless they where after the same player i don't see any point to this and if they are why would Minesota give up the pick?

nope, 1 hour before the draft was the deadline.

the vikes just UNDRESSED the browns:laugh2: .....yeah, Richardson is good but c'mon: vikes weren't even in the MARKET for a rb: sure, someone else could have traded with the vikes but..........what a joke. Holmgren is a doofus:rolleyes:

Holmgren is a doofus:rolleyes:They were competing with Tampa for the pick, not the Vikings. So they had to outbid Tampa.

PS, no one knows what the compensation was at this point. So it may or may not be what the OP says.

Wow Vikings robbed the browns. I can see the vikes moving back to 7 with the jags moving up to get blackmon

A 4th, 5th and 7th and they can still take Kalil. Wow.

Those are low picks, I think it's not too bad. The Vikings just get to roll the dice on more guys.

Cleveland's not going to miss their 5th or 7th at all. The 4th might hurt, but only a little bit.

Carolina to get Claiborne? Buffalo to get Kalil?

The Browns had two 4th-rounders and two 5th-rounders, so they still have a full draft and then some.

Also, according to the old draft chart (yes, I know), the delta between 3 and 4 is 400 points. No combination of the Browns' 4 + 5 + 7 tops 150 points. So they certainly weren't fleeced by that standard.

Just checked Adam's value chart, and it still looks very reasonable (depending on which 4th-rounder they traded).

if richardson turns out to be adrian peterson without durability issues than the browns move would be looked at as a great move.

04-26-2012, 06:21 PM
you guys should jump in the chat room but it was a good trade if they really wanted trent richardson. it's the price you have to pay to keep him away from the bucs. i wouldn't want to risk losing him if i were the browns.

Good move by both sides. Browns can't afford to miss again on the guy they want

04-26-2012, 06:25 PM
It's not about the picks given up; it's about getting the player you wanted.

If not the Browns, they would have lost Richardson to someone else.

Jaxonsdaddd
04-26-2012, 06:26 PM
The browns had 13 picks going in so its no surprose that they bundled some to get there guy. They still have there own ⁴th but traded the one they got from atlanta,

Good trade for both teams

This is shaping up to be an interesting draft. Maybe Fletcher Cox or Mark Barron will get pushed far enough down to us to where we can either decide to move up for a reasonable price or stay put and nab our man. I am starting to warm up to the idea of adding Mr. Brockers to this roster though. Won't be disappointed either way really.

That's pretty ridiculous. I wonder if Cleveland is getting a late rounder back, kind of like we did in the Roy Williams trade.

Somehow I am not that sold on Richardson anyway. Not as a franchise changer, anyway.

We drafted Arkin in the 4th, a corner who is no longer with the team at 5th and fb shaun chapas in the 7th.

Would you give them up to make sure you get Richardson? I would.

Totally agree. It's funny that people think a 4th round pick is so valuable.

I think there is a business decision involved with this as well. Cleveland doesn't have a face of the franchise. Their QB is a JAG who is probably a lame duck. It's a depressing franchise. Richardson can be someone you can sell to your fans and generate some excitement with the franchise.
