Bills Cardinals Apr. 12 - Bills general manager Tom Donahoe re-emphasized on Monday that he's not going to trade halfback Travis Henry in a player-for-player swap for Cardinals offensive lineman L.J. Shelton, reports ESPN.com's John Clayton.

Donahoe wants a swap of second-round choices or something more to give up Henry. Cardinals coach Dennis Green won't do that and will wait until draft day to test Donahoe's resolve. If Green can't convince the Bills to pull the trigger on a player-for-player swap, the Cardinals will get a running back in draft.

Cardinals Bills Apr. 12 - Unless the Bills receive a draft choice from the Cardinals, they won't send Travis Henry to Arizona in exchange for L.J. Shelton, reports John Clayton.

Shelton, who fell out of favor with Cardinals coach Dennis Green last season, was granted permission to seek a trade in February. He has already undergone a physical by the Bills.

Jamie Sharper

Ravens Apr. 12 - Jamie Sharper has received offers from Seattle and Cincinnati, and is expected to make a decision this week, reports The Tacoma News Tribune. The Cowboys and possibly the Ravens are also pushing for the former Texans linebacker, who was released in a salary-cap move. Sharper is hoping to get $3.5 million a year in a deal. His consistent ability to make over 100 tackles a season makes him one of the best options on the market.

WHO INTERESTED THE SKINNY
Chad Brown
Chad Brown
Seahawks ? Apr. 12 - Linebacker Chad Brown's career in Seattle appears to be coming to an end, reports ESPN.com's John Clayton. Brown is scheduled to make $4.1 million in '05. The Seahawks want to cut him to $1 million; Brown is willing to go to $2 million. If the sides can't reach a compromise soon, the Seahawks will likely release Brown to clear room to sign additional free agents such as Jamie Sharper.

The Seahawks have already let linebacker Anthony Simmons go. Starting middle linebacker Orlando Huff left in free agency for Arizona. Brown is considered the best Seattle free-agent signing ever. He agreed to a six-year, $24 million deal in 1997 and stayed for eight seasons.

WHO INTERESTED THE SKINNY
Bobby Taylor
Bobby Taylor
Seahawks ? Apr. 12 - Chad Brown isn't the only Seahawks' player on notice. The Tacoma News Tribune speculates that CB Bobby Taylor will likely be released if the team feels he can't overcome his chronic knee problem. The 31-year-old Taylor is scheduled to make $2 million in 2005. Seattle could clear $1.5 million under the salary cap by releasing Taylor after June 1.

WHO WHAT THE SKINNY
Jerome Bettis
Jerome Bettis
Steelers Retirement? Apr. 12 - Jerome Bettis wants to play one more season, but he is leaving the retirement door open a little, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. "My plan is to play barring any setback or issues," Bettis, 33, told the newspaper.

Bettis, who had wavered the past five weeks on his decision to return for 2005, feels good physically and mentally; however, if his body does not respond to the rigors of spring workouts and/or training camp, he may not make it for another season.

Bettis' teammates, especially WR Hines Ward, were encouraged by Bettis' participation in the team's first voluntary workout on April 11. "This is the first step," Bettis told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

WHO WHAT THE SKINNY
Hines Ward

Steelers Contract Apr. 12 - Steelers WR Hines Ward remains optimistic that he'll receive a contract extension before the 2005 season. Ward, who is entering the final year of his contract, reported to Pittsburgh's first voluntary workout on April 11. He has no intention of letting his contract status affect his commitment to the team.

"I'm just up here working out," Ward told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. "I did my job. That's between the Steelers and my agent; they didn't really set any timetable."

Steelers president Art Rooney said last month that Ward's contract is a top priority. "We'll probably start that discussion sometime after the draft," Rooney told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Ward will earn $1,668,750 this season.

I guess it wasn't so stupid to pass on Bobby Taylor after all.

I was thinking that too, Chocolate Lab. We have egg on our face for signing Wiley, but we did potentially avoid further danger by not overbidding on Taylor.

If his knees get better, he could be moved to FS maybe...

I dont think it was so much egg on our face we signed Wiley, i dont think most anyone really stepped up on our D. This iwas the first year i wasnt so confident in Zimmer and the bad play calling, the undiscpline and everything else that happened. IT was just a sad squad last year regardless of who was on it.

You never have explained why Parcells is keeping Zimmer? You seem to have a problem with Zimmer that Parcells does not have.
