Just a heads up for those interested. At 3 pm EST on ESPN2 "Sporscenter at the Draft" will be televised. It's basically the same show with Trey Wingo and all the other ESPN goons that airs during the season except of course it's draft-oriented. Just letting y'all know.

Let me know if they diz us, I'll make another trip up there with silver and blue spraypaint.

Update: It may not be at 3 pm or it may not be ESPN2. A soccer match just started on the deuce. I'm positive I heard 3pm, maybe it was ESPN and not ESPN2. Will let you know if it comes on, and Woody's Girl, I'll do my best to update you on what's said/reported.

Okay folks, I had the right time, wrong channel, it's just regular old ESPN. :D Will do my best to recap for those not able to view. These idiots will be talking about the best player in the draft and Kiper claims he will tell us all who the best receiver in the draft is and "it's not the wideout all those other guys are talking about".

I hate Merril Hoge.
What a freakin Tool.
Nice suit "Merril". (I hate those queer suits he wears. Looks like a t-shirt-suit)
He's a moron.

College student pal. :D :p:
Anyway, here's the review from the first segment:
Folks think Antel might replace Samari in Tennesee.
Brown has jumped Cadillac on most draft boards, Cadillac trying to gain some ground back by visiting teams (Chicago, and Minny)
No way the Henry – Shelton trade goes down without some kind of swap of draft picks according to Buffalo GM.
Mike Holmgren: hears same comments every year from personnel people – the draft is “only so-so” so doesn’t put too much into it. The fact of the matter is you pick the players, they will be on your team, and they will play.
Rich McKay: after first 5 or 6 picks it starts to go haywire, so that’s why people say it’s not a good draft.
Kiper says BMW is the best player in the draft, reflected in having him atop his Big Board. He can separate, ran under 4.6, he’s highly motivated, fresh and ready to take on NFL cornerbacks.
Hoge: BMW is not explosive, quick, or fast. Can only see him being effective in a west coast offense, he’s not a downfield threat. BMW isn’t physical. Have to determine if he’s weak side or strong side. Doesn’t block well and USC put Colbert on the strong side because of that.
Mueller: Can’t believe Hoge said BMW isn’t physical. Corners in the Pac10 were thrilled he wasn’t playing this past year.
Salisbury: Best player in the draft is Braylon Edwards despite the drops. Is a difference maker once he gets his hands on the ball.
Hoge: Draft’s best player is Ronnie Brown. Big, fast, can catch and do it all. He’s a complete back.
Mueller: His number one choice would be Edwards as well. Drops are just lapse in concentration. Has the least flaws in his total game.

Mike Nolan: There’s good consensus on the players they’re looking at. Will be good value in the pick, looking at 3 or 4 guys. Rodgers, Edwards, Smith and Rolle. Decision makers are keeping the door open. Important thing to do is continue speaking with players and agents as well as doing their research.
Signability won’t have much to do with who they choose.
Nolan: Doesn’t believe it would serve the 9ers better to trade down and stock pile more picks. When the opp. is there to take a player you gotta stick with it. “Would rather take one exact player than two if guys”
Nolan:A lot of their identity will come out of this pick, particularly if it’s a QB. They want someone who’s not only good, but who their fans and other players can relate to.
Kiper: No shortage of backs in this draft. Deeper than people say. 2nd through 7th round can find quality at RB position.
Top 3 players in the ENTIRE draft may be running backs. Brown brings the complete package, may go 2 to the Fins. Cadillac is a gifted pure runner and has made strides in catching out of the backfield, would be good for Bucs at 5. Benson is blessed with tremendous vision and great strength as a runner, is a monster in the red zone.
Arrington, Moats, Gore, Morency, Sproles, Barber III, Shelton are good backs and will be great value picks for teams late first day / early second day.
JJ Arrington is the next best back behind the big 3. Can’t question Moats’ production. Gore is 1st round talent but will be 2nd or 3rd rounder because of injury concern.
The pundits went on to try to explain what’s happening in the running game and breaking down backs but I had a phone call and didn’t catch that part. They’re on break, will resume when they come back.

Show me: AFC East style.
Saban, show me you’re ready for the NFL. Hoge believes he’ll be successful on this level.
Losman, show me you can lead the Bills. Salisbury babbled on but I didn't catch what he said. No big deal I figure. :D
Coles, show me the homecoming will be happy in NY. Hoge thinks he will, and his return will be exactly what he and the JETS are looking for.
Ricky Williams, coming back? Salisbury not sure.
Henry, will you still be a Bill? Donahoe is sticking by his guns that if he doesn’t get what he wants Henry remains a Bill.
Martin, show me you got 1600 again. Sean says he’s a special talent and will post 1600 again.
Fins defense, show me you can carry the load. They can.
Bill O-Line, show me you can keep your QB upright. Not sure here, Losman’s mobility should help.
Kiper: Won’t be easy to trade the 2nd pick. Thinks they have to take Ronnie Brown with that pick as they can’t rely on Ricky Williams. Trading that 2nd rounder to Philly for AJ Feeley really hurts them now, but Saban believes he can start building the team in rounds 3 thru 5.

Kiper answering emails
Kiper: One top LB, DJ from Texas. Kids going back to college hurt the LB class.
Kiper: Says Merriman to Boys at 11 and could look at WR for 20, either Clayton or Roddy White. Round 2 maybe Brodney Pool from OU.
Kiper: Walter Reyes, Brandon Jacobs are good backs that will be taken late in the draft, possibly by Denver who always find gems in the later rounds.
Did a rundown of familiar faces in strange places. Moss – Harris trade, Coles – Moss trade, Muhammad to Bears, Burress to Giants, Smoot to Vikes, etc. etc. etc. Was basically a condensed version of all the FA signings and trades.
Smartest offseason moves:
Sean: The Vikings did the most to address their weaknesses.
Hoge: Saban to the Dolphins. Thinks Saban has the flavor needed in the NFL.
Mueller: Ferguson to Dallas, thinks he’ll make a difference in the way they play defense.
Kiper: Giants in getting Eli a weapon in Burress, OT McKenzie, and Pierce from the Skins.
Kiper: Giants will have chance to make some moves in the NFC East if all the pieces come together and Eli keeps progressing.

I agree with some things here... though i don't like Salsburt steak or Merril Lynch
Minn WILL easily win their division... even without Moss their D is now STELLAR.
Oakland will win the WEST. Their O is amazing and their D will need to be just good enough to beat out the Chefs and Chargers... should be a good division though... anyone can win it.
my views:
Giants are still gona suck.
Chiefs didn't do enough. They'll be better but not that good.
Dallas has been good so far... but there are toehr moves that can be amde to fill 1 or 2 holes before the draft so we don't have to depend of the draft quite so much. there are bargains out there (OT Terry and FS Little, they may not even start but can be gotten cheap and take some pressure off any draft picks)
The Chargers are making a mistake not commiting to 1 QB and trading the other.

At what point does ESPN realize Hoge has had one too many blows to the noggin and they politely ask him to leave and take his drool cup with him?
Hodge said Mike Wiliams is not physical, lol.... Clutz
He said it again. What an *******, I can't listen to that .

Travis Henry one of several big name backs available to be had in a trade but it’s surprising what teams are willing to give up for them.
Alexander and James, both franchise backs are available for trade. BOTH could be had for less than a SINGLE first round pick, but the holdup is that both want too much money and not that many teams interested at this point.
Henry out of Buffalo seems most likely. Bills want to swap picks with AZ in the 2nd for Henry – Shelton trade.
Mel’s Big Board:
BMW
Ronnie Brown
Edwards
Cadillac
Benson
Thinks picks 9 thru 32 are where all the potential trades could go down and things could get crazy.
Mueller: Miami would like to trade down for extra picks, might deal with Tampa Bay and slide down to 5.
Fins have a history of trading away picks for vet players and it’s gutted their team.
Salisbury: Tampa might move up for Ronnie Brown who Gruden seems to love.
Hoge singing his song about BMW not being a physical player. (Don’t know what he’s been watching, I know many knock his speed but Hoge is the first I’ve heard knock his physicality.)
And that's it folks, they're doing "On The Clock" but I don't expect anything special there. Will let you know if anything Boys related is discussed though.

I actually agreed with him on how to fix the Cavs... Woody did well too until he said to make MJ the GM...
MJ the Gm is NOT Mj the player.
I like Redd a bit more than Allen though.

great re-cap S41, much appreciated! i will agree that Minny is by far having the best offseason, and if that defense gels this season watchout NFC, they have 2 1st rounders including the #7 overall, they might luck out and get either Edwards or Williams. as for Merrill Hoge...what do u expect from ex-steeler bum? seems like Kiper is sold on us taking Merriman at #11, probably a very realistic scenario.

I Watched the program and out of all the "Analysts" they had on I like Randy Muller the best.
Kiper I just can't stand him. I Mean how can you have a player ranked #1 over all when he hasn't played in over a year?
Hodge well he's hodge but to say a teams second back on the depth chart is the best overall player is also stupid. I agree he's good but not the best.
Sals and Muller agreed on Edwards as the best over all player. I think they are a lot closer than either of the other two clowns.
