View Full Version : Recently signed OG Mackenzy Bernadeau has been limited this off-season due to injury
IRVING -- Recently signed Cowboys offensive guard Mackenzy Bernadeau, who came to Dallas via free agency from Carolina, hasn't been able to participate in the team's voluntary off-season workouts recently because he has an injured hip.
"He's been hurt somewhat," new Cowboys offensive line coach Bill Callahan said Friday. "He's been out, but he's getting himself rehabbed. He's going to be prepared - I think - to go into OTAs. We'll have to follow that closely."
Nate Livings, the other free agent guard signed by the Cowboys, has been working hard, Callahan said.

The news that this guy has an injury that is STILL not healed is not a good sign.
I am not very excited about our interior O-Line. :bang2:

we still have the second part of free agecy coming up. I'm sure once camp starts and is underway teams will start cutting players and we might find interior OL - ala Loerent Robinson coming free for us to sign last year.

"Still"? He wasn't hurt during the season. It's an upper quadriceps injury -- he might have pulled it working out recently for all we know.

Marco Rivera had back issues.
He also was 33 years old and had a bad back. Bernadeau is 26 and has a quadriceps injury. Huge difference.

Yeah, I know. That's what I was trying to point out to the poster above.

I guess I missed the part where it said he "recently" has missed workouts.
I'm still not that thrilled with our interior O-Line.

Opens the door for one of the UDFA to jump right in there. Wonder what the cap hit would be if the UDFA were to totally outperform him and Boys ended up cutting him before season began? Just the sign-on bonus?

The injury that has sidelined RG Mackenzy Bernadeau for the Cowboys' offseason conditioning program is a hip flexor. The team doesn't believe the injury is serious, and is hopeful Bernadeau will be ready for OTAs in a few weeks. "We want to make sure he's healthy before we put him out there," said coach Jason Garrett. OL coach Bill Callahan plans to try Bernadeau at both right guard and center when Dallas opens training camp. May 4 - 6:14 PMSource: Fort Worth Star-Telegram

Good. If he's got an ounce of talent and the coaching staff a lick of sense, he'll take the starting C gig.

My biggest concern with this injury is that the reserves are known to be poor quality and the two free agent signings are the only hope for improvement. The free agents may not be an improvement, but at least there is a glimmer of hope. I hope this is not a injury that lingers.

Hip flexor is a strain - I would not get to wadded up over this.
