In the silent footage from the laundromat's security camera, the dad scoops up the diaper-clad toddler, shoves him head first into the front loading washier, and shuts the door. He and the mom seem amused at first, but panic quickly sets in when they realize that they can't get the washer door open. It's locked automatically, and the tot is trapped inside as the washer starts to run. (Warning: The video is disturbing).

I'm sure the next step will be the parents suing the laundry mat and the manufacturer of the machine.
It's the American way these days!

Careful with actually doing that, but yeah, in theory I sometimes wish I could.... This guy'd be no problem for me. I'd go Inglorious Basterd on him.
Have you seen that one, with Brad Pitt?

Egads. At the very least it seems he did not know the danger and didn't mean to hurt the child, and he was certainly distraught. But how can you not know?

not know what? not to put a child into a washing machine, or that it wouldn't open once closed? I wouldn't put a child in there but I certainly wouldn't expect to not be able to open the machine. What if you forgot a pair of pants? you can't wash them that week? IDK I don't use a laundry mat, is this a common thing, not being able to open the machine?

It begs the question, "What the hell were you thinking to begin with?"
And it wasn't just the dad. The mom watched and thought it was a hoot at first. These people don't deserve to be parents.
It's funny, because we have another thread going over CPS being called for something that was uncalled for and here we have two parents blatantly endangering a child.
It takes some kind of extra-special stupid to do this kind of thing.

I used to hide in the washing machine when I was younger and we played hide and go seek on a rainy day, so we'd stay inside. Thank God nothing like that ever happened to me, looking back it was rather dumb to get inside of that machine.
Very poor choice by the dad.

And, the kid might grow up to be a stunt actor!

I don't think he did this maliciously at all, but that doesn't excuse it being beyond stupid.

Death penalty. I'm not taling about lethal injection. Burning at the stake would fit this just fine.
