Miami zombie attacker may have been using 'bath salts'

A naked man who chewed off the face of another man in what is being called a zombie-like attack may have been under the influence of "bath salts," a drug referred to as the new LSD, according to reports from CNN affiliates in Miami.

The horrific attack occurred Saturday and was only stopped after a police officer shot the attacker several times, killing him.

Larry Vega witnessed the attack on Miami's MacArthur Causeway. He told CNN affiliate WSVN he saw one naked man chewing off the face of another naked man.

"The guy was like tearing him to pieces with his mouth, so I told him, 'Get off!'" Vega told WSVN. "You know it's like the guy just kept eating the other guy away, like ripping his skin."

Could really become a Zombieland of sorts. Have to have the National Guard roaming the streets all hours of the day and night ... curfews, etc. ... if there ever became a significant usage outbreak of this drug.

We'd all have to wear hockey masks and body armor and carry sawed-off shotguns to protect ourselves. Now that's a way of going about our daily lives that I don't want to have to see happen anytime soon. :eek:

Citing an “imminent threat to public safety,” the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) made illegal the possession and sale of three of the chemicals commonly used to make bath salts -- the synthetic stimulants mephedrone, MDPV, and methylone. The ban, issued in October 2011, is effective for at least a year. During that time, the agency will decide whether a permanent ban is warranted.

They used to sell these at Gas Stations. Seriously, they were sold in stores under the guise of "bath salts" and people caught on to what they were really for. Luckily Police and the Government caught on to and they pulled them from stores a year or two ago.

They have a result of being something like LSD and Meth mixed together.

I saw that on the discovery channel. The groups uses this as a worst case scenario but it really is more about basic survival should something catastrophic happen. I'm not one who really puts much thought into this but some of the things they said of things you would need to look out for was interesting.

True but to make this particular drug there are certain ingredients that were needed to produce it.

I don't think this is "hyperbolic media disorder" when the user of this drug just ate 80% of this mans face and would not stop even when confronted by police and shot. Add to that other encounters by doctors when confronted with a user of this drug.

I can't even fathom something worse than PCP but this sounds like it could be.

Good question. Hard to say. Once you develop a taste for something — other peoples' faces and such — it can be awfully hard to give it up. Eco-conscious or eating people's faces? Societal responsibility or societal abomination? I'd probably have to flip a coin.

my uncle has a similar story, he is a big guy(was being recruited to play TE by texas, tore his knee up playing flag football with chicks) and worked as a bouncer in college, one night a guy was trying to get in and was on PCP, ended up fighting my uncle and my uncle got 3 solid hits to the jaw and nothing. He ended up just backing up until his friends said the cops were coming, at which point the guy started smashing his face into the brick wall. crazy

Yeah, they are freaky strong and crazy on that stuff. It scared me half to death to be truthful. I have often said if a cop shoots someone on that it is a justifiable shooting as far as I am concerned.
