Okay, I hate the NBA right now, but I just became a fan of Mark Cuban. I may root for the Mavericks because of that interview. He showed exactly what I have been saying, that the media do not understand the game they are reporting on. He made Skip look stupid.

Wow, Cuban just went from villain to hero in my book. That was pure awesome.

lol Skip Bayless didn't know what hit'em. Cuban owned him in that segment.

He's right though, most espn analyst don't have a clue, they just throw crap on the wall and hope it sticks.

Well it seems the world does not like either Cuban or Bayliss for that matter. Would had loved to have seen that!

Amen. Unfortunately, too many fans buy into the false generalizations they make, and thus come to the same conclusions themselves.

I found it interesting that we didn't hear a peep out of Smith during that whole segment. I think he realized that Skip was being owned, and didn't want Cuban making him look bad as well.

The other thread where this was posted is locked now. So I am going to move what I said to here.

Yep, many people look at him and come up with "generalities" like arrogant and ***hole; but when it comes down to it he is an extremely smart guy and just says it like it is. He might be too intense and unfiltered for some people, but I have a lot of respect for him as a professional. He is a great owner, and definitely somebody who should be at the top of a large business. I watched a live "hangout" with him on Google+ yesterday. It was basically just him and a select group of regular people who got the chance to interview him. He gives lots of great advice to people and their businesses or ideas. I think it's pretty cool how he has such a passion for investing in small startup companies.

Mark Cuban is awesome. If you really listen to what his points are and refrain from making judgments on his tone you can learn a lot from this guy.

it went on for a lot longer than this too. they brought him back after 2 commercial breaks to continue the debate over a few different topics.

I agree. And I've never been a fan of Cuban at all.

Cuban just owened that little gossiping worm. I remember when bayless tried to say Aikman was gay in the 90's. They said Mark Tuinei (RIP) caught bayless on a flight and was going to work him untill Lett and Maryland pulled him off. In a interview I heard with Troy a year or two ago he said if he saw skip now punches would fly. For a man like Troy to say that you know he hates that weasel.

Wow! Mark Cuban dominated that entire cast of talking heads assembled on set. Stephen A. knew to keep his opinionated trap shut. Coulda sworn I saw makeup running as a tear ran down Skip Bayless' cheek from the verbal spankin' he was receiving. O W N E D!

The marks on the outside may heal, in time. The inner bruising ... maybe never. :laugh2:

I really think this applies a lot to the Dallas Cowboys. The media gets after us and guys like Romo, because it's ratings to them. We let them suck us in. Parcells said it best "You just got sucked".

Whether its NFL Network or ESPN, fans in general just buy into what these guys say. They aren't really more experienced or credible than the average fan, in fact, fans like most of us who are die hard Cowboys fans, know more about the cowboys than these national guys. Some of us probably know more about the team than some local reporters even.

You can often find out, when you read an article or watch a video, and it just completely lacks substance, or has assumptions or conclusions that you would berate a fan for coming to on this board.

Tony Romo isn't a leader because of golf, backwards hat, he isn't always yelling at people....

That is the thing with talking points they don't even need to be good. You just say them enough time, and they become "true".

Romo isn't clutch? Do the numbers back that up? Obviously not. Pundits will point to the game against the Lions and Jets... as if most QBs didnt have at least 2 games like that last year.

Yeah I saw this live yesterday and I loved it. Cuban exposed everything that is wrong with the ESPN media.

Ownage for sure.
As for Cuban--and I'm not really referring to this conversation--getting married a few years ago and especially becoming a father has changed him a lot. I know he's still outspoken, but he has changed much for the better.

He's calmed down alot (it's realtive, I know) and is always saying that his love for the Mavs is dwarfed by his love for those kids. That seems like a no-brainer to some of us, but we are talking about an owner who has built a very successful franchise but still loses money because of his obsession for winning.

Also, you'll notice he always hires solid coaches and has always had a top tier GM who has his ear 100%. Donny Nelson is top notch. Also, not to get too racial here, but has had one of the only black team President and CEOs (Ussery) for about a decade now. And his team was a front-runner back in 2001 and still going with honoring the troops.

He always has always kept the upper bowl very cheap (maybe the cheapest in the league) so that anyone can go to a game. The lower bowl is pricey though, for sure.

The man has made many, many mistakes--especially early in his career. But I do think he has done what we all should do with our mistakes, learn and grow.

So if some of you still hate him, and that brashness (even if it is toned down)can still be hard to take for some, just know there's a good person under there.

I'm looking forward to moving to Dallas in the future so I can root for the Mavs full time.

Meh, he may be right in this case but he's still a tool. Always blaming the refs, running out onto the court when a fight breaks out (like he could do anything about it against those guys-- ha), verbal sparring with Phil Jackson, etc... He's still a huge attention whore who should pray to Dirk every night for saving his basketball butt.

the best part about this, which is left out in the video, is that this all started because mark cuban called skip out hard on twitter. they got into a little disagreement on there and skip invited him on the show. so basically skip asked for all of this. a powerful thing happened right there. mark cuban seriously discredited skip and i'm not sure there is a way to recover from something like that.

so stupid. it's funny how lebron and skip are now trading places. skip is quickly becoming the most hated media "participant".

Skip will continue to be a blowhard, because that's what he's paid to do. Be obnoxious and get ratings.

I posted two vids of Jalen ripping into him. One two years ago and one two months ago.

He will continue to do what he's been doing because no matter how much he's made the fool, ESPN accomplished what they set out to do. And that's get people on their show and get people to watch.

Why do people keep hiring Skip Bayless?

Because he creates controversy. Controversy creates ratings. He is one of the highest paid members in all of sports media for a reason. Love him or hate him, Skip Bayless is very good at his job.

[EDIT] Just checked video playback compatibility in Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer 32- and 64-bit browsers. Video's playing perfectly...

[EDIT 2] HA!

Just saw this message while checking the video on the IPad/Safari browser:

"The content owner has not made this video available on mobile."

Let's see if that can be corrected...

That's better. :)

Now if anyone else says the video's not working, I haven't a clue what's causing the problem.
