The minor knee injury that kept Gerald Sensabaugh out of mini-camp practice last month actually required minor surgery, which might keep the veteran out of action for the start of training camp, which officially begins on July 25 but the veterans won’t start practicing in Oxnard, Calif. until July 30.

The Cowboys don’t seem overly concerned. In fact, there is a chance Sensabaugh might even be ready despite undergoing the arthroscopic surgery earlier this month.

But it appears once again the door will be open for third-year pro Barry Church, who actually began camp as the starter last year before Sensabaugh and Abram Elam signed one-year deals.

I've always liked Church. Hopefully he can step up and claim a starting spot. That is, if he can be a effective starter.

Sensi is playing FS, isn't he? I always thought of Church as strictly a SS. Am I wrong here?

I've never understood the fascination with church. Good special team guy but that's about as much as he has. If church is starting at safety this year things have wrong!!!

Yes he seems a bit slow. If he was going to make a move to show he's a starter, I think that should have shown up last year. But i'm willing to see how he does this year. If not, time to move on. Not saying he couldn't contribute as a role player, but time to pursue a better starting prospect.
