Just eight days after the Cowboys receiver turned himself in to DeSoto, Texas police on charges of domestic violence stemming from a July 15 incident involving his mother, Dez and Angela Bryant will appear together at a press conference on Tuesday.
The briefing is slated for 2 p.m. (CT) at the Dallas office of Bryant’s attorney, Royce West, who will update the case. According to multiple reports, Angela Bryant will not pursue charges, though the District Attorney can still choose to do so.

Don't know if that is the smartest move to make. Might be better off just putting out statements from both.
Seems like the possibility for a train wreck is high in this setting...but maybe that is just me being paranoid.

How would his attorney get any face time if they just issued statements?

I'm with you BP, I think a joint statement is the best option.

105.3 The Fan -- The Rage personalities are upset. Said Royce West duped them. Apparently he got up and said, "On advice from his counsel, Dez Bryant will not speak," or some such. West then apparently read about a 3-minute prepared statement that didn't get into any real details at all.
Greggo (I think) just said... "Royce West is a ghetto, blood-letting con man." Very unhappy. LOL.

The line I quoted was sort of funny, I thought, but when they kept acting all personally indignant and outraged, I tuned out. Nothing newsworthy is gonna come from that.
Just more B 'n' M'ing to fill air time, as far as I could tell.

Dallas-based attorney Royce West issued a statement Tuesday afternoon on the behalf of both Dez and Angela Bryant.
“Mr. Bryant and his mother, Angela are appearing here today because they feel it is important to address recent reports that Mr. Bryant committed family violence against his mother. Although Dez would like to speak to this matter, on the advice of counsel, he will not make any statements at this time.
Did a family disagreement occur? Yes. Did Dez Bryant commit family violence against his mother? No.
They are here together today to show they do love and support each other, just as much as they did before the incident a week ago. But like all families, the Bryants have disagreements.
Mr. Bryant and his family understand the serious nature of family violence. They believe when all the facts are reviewed, Mr. Bryant will be cleared of any allegations of family violence.
Angela Bryant does not want charges filed against her son. Ms. Bryant has had an opportunity to speak with other people who witnessed the incident and has filed an Affidavit of Non Prosecution with the DeSoto Police Department. She recognizes that under the law, filing of the affidavit may not impact the legal outcome of her complaint. She asks that her affidavit be taken into consideration in deciding whether it is in the best interest of her family for this to continue in the legal system or allow them to resolve the issue as a family.
Dez and his mother believe this is a family matter that can be worked out through counseling.
They ask there not be a rush to judgment concerning their family. They also ask for your continued prayers and support for their family as they work through this matter.

Got it!
Now let's hear from the DA and Goodell before we decide to just move on. They hold the key.

Until I hear that the coast is clear with the DA and Goodell, how can we? This ain't over until they say it's over, not matter how bad people want it to be.
Burying our collective heads in the sand is how this thing got to 15+ years and counting with a single playoff win. I guarantee you, Jason Garrett is thoroughly disgusted by Dez right now, too.

Why do you say that? Isn't domestic violence a serious issue?

OK, I'm with Hostile, I have always believed that Dez was innocent of the charges. I still believe his mother gets high and drinks, she's definitely not a prostitute anymore, she's too big for that game, but then again there is some that like the big gals.
But she is still street and just from my personal of coming from that type of family, she can handle herself in a confrontation, she has that look.
Yes, she is big enough to step in between her two boys and break up a fight, for whatever the argument was between Dez and his brother, his mom was about to get in his butt, yes, he had to keep her off of him the best way he could, without actually fighting her.
By the look of her I'm wavering a little that she is a full fledge crack head, she may indulge still but she is not full blown anymore.
This is my theory now on why Dez, is mum he does not want anyone to know that his mother can whup his butt in a brawl.
There are some women that can flat out kick a man's butt, my aunt had her husband begging my grandfather to keep my aunt off of him once when I was in high school, she whupped his butt

Why do you say that? Isn't domestic violence a serious issue?
Hos is saying it in reference to the media and posters that are upset that the Bryant's held a press conference in which Dez's lawyer gave a formal statement regarding the situation. That statement didn't "fuel the fire" so they are upset that it doesn't help their agendas.
The only people that know exactly what happened are Dez and his family members that were present during the dispute. I doubt that we will get the details as it happened ever. It is quite clear from the statement that the Bryant family wants to handle it internally, however that may be. Everything else is just speculation.
Goodell, as reported by Clayton and Jason La Canfora, will more than likely see the case run it's course and if the charges are dropped then Goodell will likely not enfore any penalties. Goodell can enfore penalties if he wants but when charges are dropped in 99.9% of all cases he doesn't enfore any penalties of his own.
IMO - Angela Bryant has probably decided not to press charges because Dez's younger brother was present during the dispute and the brother's story is not her version of the events that transpired. The fact that the bruises and swelling did not appear until 2 days afterward are not logical. Swelling immediately occurs after trauma. Also Dez Bryant has not admitted to anything whatsoever, he did turn himself in to the DeSoto Police department but it was not an admission of guilt. He only turned himself in because a warrant for his arrest was issued and the easiest way to deal with the matter is to turn yourself in, it a sign of cooperation. I do agree that Dez needs to keep himself out of the spotlight at whatever costs those may be, but that might be too difficult of a decision for him to make at this time in his life.

ATTORNEY ROYCE WEST UPDATES DEZ BRYANT CASE
Dez Bryant and his mother at press conference
Below is the statement that Attorney Royce West made on behalf of Dez and Angela Bryant while they were at a press conference on Tuesday July 24, 2012 at 2:00p.m. in the law office of West and Associates in Dallas, Texas.
"Mr. Bryant and his mother, Angela, are appearing here today because they feel it is important to address recent reports that Mr. Bryant committed family violence against his mother. Although Dez would like to speak to this matter, on the advice of counsel, he will not make any statements at this time.

Mr. Bryant and his family understand the serious nature of family violence. They believe that when all the facts are reviewed, Mr. Bryant will be cleared of any allegations of family violence.
Angela Bryant does not want charges filed against her son. Ms. Bryant has had an opportunity to speak with other people who witnessed the incident and has filed an Affidavit of Non Prosecution with the DeSoto Police Department. IF the DA tried to take this case further it will be clearly because he wants publicity. There is no way you would ever get a conviction even if the judge did not throw it out.
