Overrated IMO. The burgers are ok, but the fries are horrible, at least the ones I had, cold and soggy. I would get a Fuddrucker burger before 5-guys.

The burger is good too. Not great, but if you want a burger and a 5 guys is nearby, it's a good stop. It's not a "destination" burger place, in my opinion, though.

Their burgers are okay. If you want a real burger that's fast go to them. Nothing compares to in-n-out though.

The fries are so so, the burgers are better, and everything is way overpriced.

This about sums it up. I eat there somewhat regularly, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so.

I do like their online ordering though. That's nice.

Five Guys wasn't a bad burger and I liked the fries. But way overpriced for basically a fast food burger.

And I just don't get people's obsession with in and out. It wasn't very good, at least the one I have been to a few times. They rank pretty low on my fast food rankings.

Overpriced but very good burgers. They are seasoned very well. You get to haveit any way you want. I like the Cajun fries as well. The sign of a good burger is when they bag they put it in starts to seep through with grease.:D

fries suck. burgers are average and overpriced for the taste.

the one by my house closed after being open for only a few years.

Places I like to get Burgers from....

Chris Madrid's (Blanco)
Rocket's Feed (Converse, TX)
San Antonio Burger (Fredricksburg and Wurzbach, fries are good)
Fatty's Burgers (love the McCheezy, fries are good)
Luther's (Main St by SAC)
Red Robin (only the Royal Burger, the one with the fried egg on it)
Rosie's (Kirby, TX)
Culver's (De Zavala.....just wish they had one on my side of town)

I hear that the Lord's Kitchen makes a very good burger, but I have yet to try it out.

I don't like Chester's or 5 Guys.

Me neither, they opened one in Dallas and there was a lady crying with joy at the news, so I'd decided to try one. I had to wait in line 45 minutes to get my food. Perhaps my expectations were too high based on all the hype but I was greatly underwhelmed

Loved it when I went, both the burger and the fries.

It blows the regular 'fast food' stuff away.

Not the place to sit and eat however.

The workers had the music blasting so loud you couldn't hear yourself think!

I love good music, but that was a bit too much.

They had the best burgers around 15 years ago in Alexandria, va. What they sell now isn't nearly as good.

If anyone happens to be passing by Harrisonburg va anytime soon, you have to try the burgers from Jack Browns...best I've ever had.

I'm sure it does vary from place to place. Like some areas I love a Wendy's burger, other places it's terrible.

5 guys burgers are way overrated. Overrated like Derek Jeter.

Nothing special.

All the hype is over the "extra" fries dumped in the bag, but the fries arent all that great either.

So, you get an overrated, overpriced burger and fries. If a McDonalds is closeby I'd choose their value menu stuff and save the $$$$. Either way you're not gettin a great burger so why overpay?

Burgers are decent, not country house good (home of the number 1 burger here in Chicago land, I recommend the buffalo burger), the cajun fries though are delicious

I like them personally.

I happen to like the bacon cheeseburger with mustard, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, and jalapenos.

I also like the cajun style fries with the balsalmic vinegar.

However, the best hamburgers will always be found at dive restaurants that are family owned and run. In Tucson, that is Lindy's on 4th Avenue. It was featured on an episode of Man vs. Food.

My personal favorites on his menu are the Blue Baller and the Donkey Punch. Yes, he has a strange sense of humor.

By the way, I am going to try this at some point.

I am going to make 2 grilled cheese sandwiches and smoosh them down. Then I am going to use them instead of hamburger buns for a hamburger.

So you'd have a grilled cheese on top, mustard, tomato, pickles, red onions, jalapenos, bacon, the burger, more mustard, and a grilled cheese sandwich on the bottom.

I can't speak for anyone else, but it sounds awesome to me.

I can't believe that someone in the south hasn't come up with the deep fried hamburger. I mean we fry EVERYTHING in the south. Oreos, Ice Cream, candy bars, butter.

You would think someone, somewhere would have battered up a burger and fried it up crisp.

Oh well, maybe I have something to try to do one day.

I missed that recipe. Must repost it!I posted it for the Mods. I make the best milkshakes you've ever had. Guaranteed. But I do not make plain ones like chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla even though I could.

Nanner pudding
Chocolate raspberry
Peanut Butter & Jelly
Pistachio
Oreo
Punkin Pie
Pecan pie
Cinnamon roll

I am currently flirting with a white chocolate jalapeno concoction, and yes I am serious.

I agree with the first part. Overrated burger that gets by on the toppings more than anything else. Not great meat, not a great sear most of the time, not a great recipe. Fries can get soggy if you don't dump them out of the cup immediately. I wouldn't put Fuddrucker before anything though, they're just as lousy as any other fast food burger.

I am a connoisseur of burgers. I think I know what a good one is supposed to taste like. And five guys is NOT a burger that you gotta have. It is ok but if I never had another one I would not be disappoined. I have probably had about 10 in the past five years it has been open but it is not all that. I ask for crispy fries when I go and they are still soggy and limp. I have not been back in about a year.

The best burger to this day I would say was from a cafe in Lake Charles, La called MaryAnns. It has been over 20 years since I had one and I have probably had more burgers over that 20 years than a normal person should have but noone has touched them. They probably don't even do the same as they did back then but if it is and you are in SW La, Stop by and try it. And their fries were better than anything Five Guys could ever dream about serving. Fresh Cut, crispy and hot.

There was a place that opened in Lake Charles back in the 80s that tried to copy their burgers and they came pretty close. It was called Cottens. They were still better they five guys but not as good as Mary Anns.

If I have said it once I have said it a million times, the only thing I miss from Louisiana is the food. And I really miss that. ....
