And as usual the boys are being dumb about it; claiming he might only miss one or two games.
Show me anyone else we have had with a High Ankle Strain that came back and was really effective in less than 6 weeks.

Yeah, I just assumed he was headed to the PUP list. I watched the game this morning but totally missed this injury. It would be sweet if he only misses a game or two...crossing fingers.

It would be sweet if he only misses a game or two...crossing fingers.Once you have attended even one practice you are not eligible for the PUP list. The PUP list is not a lesser version of Injured Reserve wherein someone can come back later. It is a list for players who due to surgery or some other off season circumstance, cannot practice or play.

Thanks for the explanation Hos. I thought it was anytime before the regular season.

Thanks for the explanation Hos. I thought it was anytime before the regular season. No sweat man. Just like an Eagles fan having sex, no sweat.
One reason I hate pre-season is because you have to stash injured players on your roster, make them inactive, and play thin. But every team has this issue. We just think we have more injuries than anyone else because this is the team we all love. In reality, every team is sweating as the real games approach.

Yeah, I was listening to Sirius XM NFL Radio yesterday. Sounds like the Giants have some OL problems also. And are starting to have secondary problems again too.
Strength is still front 7 though, and offense other than OL.
Eagles, lost Peters for year a while ago, but replacement is struggling. Vick will be injured by game 6 IMO....
Redskins, sounds they have a lot of nagging injuries too, or people just coming back off of injuries....
So it's not just us, you are right, just hits harder when it's home.

When he comes back he should be back or at least close to his old self since his foot problem is healed.

ARLINGTON, Texas - Even though Jay Ratliff (http://www.dallascowboys.com/team/roster/jay-ratliff/65301cf0-2f38-44bf-a8d1-c3cc9789dd2e/) missed several practices and the first two preseason games because of a foot injury, the theory all along was that he would be playing if the regular season were upon us.
That’s probably not the case anymore, and it’s not because of the plantar fasciitis that has bothered him all offseason.
Ratliff now has a high-ankle sprain with which to deal, suffering the damage in the second quarter of Saturday’s 20-19 win over the Rams at Cowboys Stadium. Before his injury, Ratliff was flying around the ball and playing like a guy who has made four straight Pro Bowls.

.....how many reps has Spears had at NT this pre season Hos? I don't know..
....secondly: I just watched the game (dvr'd it) and the injury to Rat was bad.......he got rolled up on down low, and then engaged up high and blasted backwards: often a play that gets a linemen a torn ACL or broken leg. The dreaded high ankle sprain: it would seem to me now the interior of the dline is almost as suspect as the interior of the Oline............brutal.:bang2:

Not necessarily, he won't be in good shape if he can't do any practicing or anything for a month.

Maybe they use Lissemore there. Originally that was their goal then they moved him outside.

Let him fully recover...I know he is a big part of what they are trying to do but I like the "Next Man Up" attitude spreading in the locker room....
It's a man's game..so NEXT MAN UP and we will be alright

Both the Giants and the Eagles will be forced to release DL that are better than Brent. Brent has not really shown improvement this past offseason. And Geathers is still inconsistent and one dimensional (and that one dimension - run stopping - was piss poor yesterday).

The Rats game is based on quickness and movement
You guys to realize there is a difference between playing and being effective, right?

........you guys know the deal with a high ankle sprain: if you push it and come back too early and make it worse: he could miss 4-6 wks....we've seen it before. Let Spears, Lissemore, and Brent rotate in and do it by committee: no, it's not ideal but I'd rather get Rat back 100% in week 2 or 3 than push it and lose him for 5 or 6 weeks. Just my two cents.

Has nothing to do with them being studs or tough....
They need medical clearance to play.

The good thing about high ankles sprains for lineman is that they don't have to cut or stop and go... He'll be back in time for the 1st game.

ehh.. I've seen linemen with rat's agility (including rat himself) have to put a considerable amount of pressure on the ankle. I don't care if he's not cutting like barry sanders. When you're pushing an offensive linemen back, you generate your power initially from the ground up. There is a lot of pressure on the ankle with each step. Not to mention stunting, dropping back in zone coverage.

and for an undersized NT whose WHOLE game is based on quickness

Sad. He was straight up Beasting on Scott Wells (which is almost unpossible to believe, because I was told that Jay Ratliff is teh suxxors and that anytime you spend huge money on an interior lineman in free agency it always makes your interior OL dominant).
I have a feeling Ryan is going to rotate his DL so often this year that Ratliff being relegated to role player for the first 5-6 weeks of the season may not be that critical. Not ideal, but not critical.

He might, and this isn't a reasonable basis for determining if things matter, anyway. If he's a solid contributor and better than his replacement, then it matters if he's out. Jay Ratliff is obviously both of those things, and then some.

I saying enough excuses and crying about who isn't playing. If he plays great, if not I I I really don't care. We have more than enough to beat new York.

I don't think anyone's saying we don't. But there's a difference between an excuse for losing and something not mattering. Potentially losing a player as good as Ratliff would matter.
What am I missing, though? How come we're sure he's out for week one?
