ESPND: Orlando Scandrick: Not concerned about losing slot job

IRVING, Texas – Orlando Scandrick (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/11366/orlando-scandrick) isn’t sweating his spot on the Cowboys cornerback pecking order.

And Scandrick isn’t concerned about his role changing if and when Mike Jenkins (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/11259/mike-jenkins) is cleared to play after missing all of the offseason and training camp while recovering from shoulder surgery.

“If you’re asking me if I think that I’m going to not play when he comes back, no, not even a thought in my mind,” Scandrick said. “That hasn’t even crossed my mind.”

That’s not intended as a slight to Jenkins. Scandrick just can’t envision losing his job to a player that would have precious little time to practice a position that he's never played.

I hate the media. Fans want hard NFL info about new formations and player progress. The media just likes to stir up controversy and create all these fabricated rivalries then never shut up about them. I would be so annoyed if I played in the NFL and I had to deal with cheesy reporters trying to spin my words every day.

I can't blame him for being hostile to the media, but when he's indifferent and rude to the fans, that's when I have a problem. I don't like Scandrick.

......he's asked alot because he hasn't done a THING to justify that big contract guys...that's a fact: turn that anger and disrespect into results on the FIELD OScan....until then, shut up or down interview requests. :cool:

So we penalize him because he signed a contract that was GIVEN To him. And let's be for real here. He signed a 25 million dollar contract. You guys talk like he was given a 60 million dollar deal.

Jenkins is and HAS been a waste of a roster spot. Along with Scandrick.

I'm not even sure Jenkins would be that great of a slot guy if he were fully healthy. Slot guys need to be pretty willing tacklers, because they're playing closer to the box in the floatsum and jetsum. That's why Woody was such an ideal slot nickel when he moved down in sub packages. Coughlin loves to run sweep tosses on 3rd and 4 to force the slot guy to come up and make the tackle on the ball carrier. Secondly, Jenkins game is better suited playing on the outside, denying WR's clean releases and using the sideline.
