One of the most intriguing developmental prospects of the Cowboys’ training camp has moved on to a new team after being cut on Friday.

Linebacker Adrian Hamilton, who had 20.5 sacks at Prairie View A&M in 2011, joined the Baltimore practice squad on Saturday, according to Ravens insider Aaron Wilson. The Cowboys did not attempt to sign Hamilton to their own eight-man practice roster, instead keeping only one linebacker, Orie Lemon. He had been on the Cowboys practice squad throughout 2011.

Hamilton had one sack for the Cowboys this preseason, also forcing a fumble against St. Louis.

Why in the world would the Cowboys not want him on the 53-man roster? Who cares about special teams? He was going to be inactive the first part of the season anyway.

1st mistake: not putting him on the 53 man roster
2nd mistake: not signing him to the practice squad.

Hopefully, the Cowboys will make up for it by signing him to the 53 man roster soon from the Ravens practice squad. Preferably right now but soon after the Giants game is ok by me.:)

Maybe when the Cowboys wise up and cut Arkin's sorry butt. If Wilbur has a relapse or if either of the starters go down, Cowboys will be in a world of hurt. Both Ware and Spencer have played a crazy amount of snaps in the last 3 years. NY has it right with the way they rotate their front 7, ala Jimmy Johnson.

Hamilton reminds me of the "go get em attitude" of a player a couple of years ago by the name of Victor Butler. He turned out pretty good , didn't he?:laugh2:

I think he wasn't going to play much and why waste s spot, especially with other positions being pretty thin. Now I do wish they would of at least signed him to the PS.

So why the lovefest for a LB who wasn't drafted by anyone, who made one sack in preseason, who passed through wavers by all 32 teams, and who would be behind Ware, Spencer, Butler, Wilber, and even Albright?

I don't get it.

Pressure? Both Spencer and Butler bring better pressure...Butler backs up DeMarcus Ware and Kyle Wilber backs up Spencer. The Cowboys need one more OLB for this season?

Yes they need another olb in their defense scheme. Look back, a lot of times they kept 9 linebackers and Hamilton would have made nine.

You aren't being analytical here. The team kept a more productive linebacker over the past two seasons on the practice squad, Lemon.

You hoped Hamilton would make the team...but he didn't. Not due to potential, but demonstrated ability on the field. He competed, and didn't measure up in the present.

Not all college skills do. His reaction time was slow in identification. That is why he wasn't better in run support...as well as being a problem point if he made it out onto the field during real games now. Teams would attack him more directly now.

I watched this guy closely. He's nothing special at all. In fact, he's not good enough for the NFL, regardless of what he did against Savannah State in college.

Every LB in camp was better than this guy. Every one.

Actually Wake lead the CFL in sacks......so he accomplished more then Hamilton......

But then again....the Giants known for picking up pass rushers cut Wake before he went to the CFL

I laugh at the comments of, he can't play, he's a one trick pony, etc. If that's the case so is Spenc. He can stop the run, but he's not very good at rushing the passer. Hatcher came into this league and it's taken him what 4 yrs to figure it out? All NFL players need time to develop. Why not develop him on at least our PS?

It doesn't matter anymore, but I do hope this organization rues. I really do.

It's been a long time since we had hope for another punishing pass rusher and we are all so starved to get one opposite Ware. I now hope that might be Wilbur.

Nice futile attempt at humor. But, I'm sure you'll be able to tell me how a player is supposed to help the special teams when he is expected to be INACTIVE for the first part of the season.

He was a player who showed good potential and needed some time to develop.

I hope not. I'd rather our FO demonstrate they knew what they were doing than be proven right about a pet cat no longer with the Cowboys.

Any college FA is an NFL longshot, anyway. I don't see the point about fussing over one being cut.

No, but he is on the $10 bill which means he is better than Washington and Lincoln but not as good as Grant and Franklin.:)

Give him time.

Probably the best place for him to go in terms of developing his career.

They've had some really good pass rushers over the years and they have a solid defensive core.

Now that he's on the Ravens practice squad, the Cowboys can sign him if they want to. They just have to keep him on the 53 man roster at least three weeks; I believe.

By the way, another Cowboys camp cut, guard Harland Gunn, was signed to the Saints' practice squad.

No, I'm not being analytical here, I am saying he has a great ability to rush the passer and I think one day you will see that and see he was worth keeping around. The Ravens will use his talents wait and see.

Just how many players with world class speed have the Cowboys cut over the past two years? Seperation talents sometimes just don't find their release on the carpet. This time, your Favored Player just didn't earn it on that carpet.

To not judge him as possessing talent, would be foolish. But I'm not crying over spilled milk...but wishing him future success with the Ravens.

As to records, more than a single player wasn't able to make with the Cowboys and did well elsewhere. Time and place are a big factor in the NFL, with short careers.

But for THE RECORD, the boy didn't earn it here with Dallas. He was measured as a 'too small' fish and was 'THROWED' back in to grow some more. Most fish do just that...if they survive the sharks and predators awaiting them. Same in the NFL...where there is always a bigger fish around the corner.

But to put ANY other person 'down' for not kissing up to your view, is not an ounce bit farther along being realistic than saying he's sizing up his bust for Canton right now also...Son, this is the NFL, and you go by what shows on the film, not in just words and brow beats.

A team still gauges by what gives it the best ability to survive and win in that season. And it adjusts it's own resources with it's roster strengths and injuries in mind. What we see here, is just that...and it wasn't taken with no or poor considerations into just that.

I do root for all of them. I have bled blue since the 70's. But we make mistakes. A lot of them to be frank. I'm ready to win again. I have no clue if Hamilton will be anything, but he's the best looking pass rusher we've had in a long time. Remember we're still waiting on Butler.

People talk about ST's and the guy made a great tackle (remember when they guy got up and ran for another 7yds and the refs blew the call?). He also tackles well. Every sack or tackle he made was a perfect form tackle. He tackled Pryor one on one in the open field, and then he picked him up on the one would be sack. And then the Clemons sack was a thing of beauty.

We might all forget about him if he doesn't pan out, but I think he will. People also forget he played at OKst and Tech, they just talk about Prairie View small school, etc. last time I checked Troy wasn't all world.

I guess level of competition doesn't factor in to what people think about a player.
