Scout.com draft preview
The 2005 NFL Draft is finally nearing, and teams will start doing mock drafts in participation of this coming weekend's big event. Today we have many news & notes heading into the homestretch.
NFC East
Dallas Cowboys - Sources say that the team is very high on University of Maryland DE Shawn Merriman and believe he fits what head coach Bill Parcells is looking for-speed off of the edge. Besides veteran end Greg Ellis, the team lacks any other pass rushers. The other position that the team will look hard at is wide receiver because they lack quality depth and playmakers at the position.
Dallas is said to be considering using a late round pick on former Ohio St. RB Maurice Clarett. Another player the team likes is Nebraska's Josh Bullocks, a safety they feel would be a great compliment to Roy Williams. While the 20th pick in round one is too early for Bullocks services, the team would pull the trigger were he available at the 42nd slot.

Where exactly did you get the info the cowboys like Josh Bullocks. As far as free safety's go I thought we had Pool come in for a work out not Bullocks. I would rather have Bullocks myself, but as far as I have read we were much more interested in Pool.

Where's all this stuff leaking from? It sounds like one guys' conjecture is getting translated into second hand facts.

Why would anyone believe that the Cowboys would take a safety with the 42nd pick? From what limited information I have read, Davis is the only safety worth taking in the top 50! I'd expect to see the Cowboys take a CB (Browner or Jackson) with the 42nd pick and play him at safety before they take a guy like Pool or Bullocks.
By the way...first post!

welcome to the board 1
and two since we dont have a 3rd round pick, nad if we stand our ground and get players for our first two picks(whichisee happening if the palyers are there), then most likely we will draft a S in the second round with our #42pick,(which most mockdrafts have us doing) See without a 3 round pick, that means we wouldnt be able to get a REAL S untill the 4th round, and i realldont wanna try our 2nd day luck. Pool,Bullocks, are allgreat safteys and iwould take either one with the #42 pick.
