IRVING — Rob Ryan hasn’t burned the film from the two games the Cowboys played against the New York Giants last season. It would be hard to blame the Cowboys defensive coordinator if he did. The Giants’ offense totaled 947 yards and 66 points in two victories over the Cowboys.

But Ryan said Monday that his group has learned from those losses.

“This is as tough of an opponent as we’re going to face,” Ryan said. “Obviously last year it was the toughest one that we faced last season, they won the Super Bowl for a reason. We’ve been working hard and we’re looking to be a hell of a lot better than we were last year.”

Did those losses bother Ryan personally? Of course they did.

Will be eager to see how this improved defense will take care of Manning.

Basically calling out Newman not being able to play anything other than off man.

He's also saying that pass rush isn't always the answer for defending Eli.

Yeah, Rob Ryan said that. :D

That was definitely the case last year a she was getting the ball out of his hands so fast against us. That goes back to Newman playing so far off also.

We can get to Eli if we cover for a few seconds!

“There are a lot of routes that he gets rid of the ball really quick,” Ryan said. “You’re not going to sack Eli Manning if he wants to throw the ball in about one second. Sacks come and go. Sometimes you can get there with more coverage and tighter coverage."

I think that's a pretty good assessment of Eli. He's really good at getting the ball out, so you've got to press the receivers if you hope to get to him.

I agree. It's going to take ALL 11 men on the field to beat Eli. Communication is key.

Manning and the Giants did alot of quick drops pass plays......Pass rush was ineffective.....thats why we need better CB play

They will do the same thing Wed nite......Rob will need to play more pass coverages instead of blitzing...
