5 Dallas Cowboys' storylines to follow in 2012

1Romo's postseason record

Tony Romo, 32, has become one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the league. He had one of the best seasons of his career last season, with 4,184 passing yards and 31 touchdowns. Yet, the Cowboys didn't make the playoffs in 2011, and Romo has won only one playoff game in three postseason appearances. Starter recently released a digital campaign with Romo responding to the criticism he is under to win a championship. Though some Cowboys fans would love to replace the starting quarterback, solely blaming Romo for the Cowboys' 16-season Super Bowl drought, team management fully supports No. 9. Executive vice president Stephen Jones has said he expects Romo to be the team's quarterback beyond Romo's current contract, which expires after the 2013 season.

2Pass defense progress

The Cowboys' pass defense has been among the worst in team history the past two seasons. Dallas allowed 3,894 passing yards in 2010 before giving up 3,906 last season. We call those fans "raging morons."

Glad to see that the management is smart enough to see that Romo needs to be here for more years. He isn't the problem

Agreed.

My observation. The media has quieted in their criticism of Romo. More and more give him credit for being an outstanding QB.

My speculation. The media's reference to "all the fans" that want to see a different QB is no more than any other cities fans who decry the #1 no matter who they are. Sometimes I think the media keeps this "a lot of fans want to get rid of Romo" fire stoked so THEY can keep the criticism going but point the finger at the fans. Just a thought. I don't really care what either thinks.
