Isn't there some kinda jinx when it comes to this? Can we be so lucky?
---------
He might not have won a Super Bowl, but Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb has captured the coveted cover of the "Madden NFL 2006" video game.

That announcement first appeared in the Monday issue of SportsBusiness Journal.

McNabb already has carved out a large endorsement niche that includes Reebok, Lincoln Financial and the Campbell Soup Co. His Chunky Soup ads have given Wilma McNabb, his mom, almost as much visibility as he has.

EA Sports' Madden game is the biggest of all the video football games on the market. More than 1.35 million were ordered last August during the prerelease of the "2005" version, the largest release in the 15-year history of the game.

While McNabb no doubt was happy about the deal, he couldn't have been thrilled with the release's reference to his play in the fourth quarter of the Super Bowl. It said: "No word on whether EA's 2006 Madden game will contain a 'super slow' mode, in deference to the Eagles' lack of a hurry-up offense in Super Bowl XXXIX."

Ouch.

Madden 2006 = Madden 2005 = Madden 2004 = .... = Madden 2000

Does it really matter who's on the cover? It's the same freakin' game.

Let's not forget about EA's monopoly ... the new Madden will now be $59.99 on sale.

jinx jinx jinx

Subject 1: Eddie George; cover-star of Madden 2001. He had been a major factor in the Titans getting to the Superbowl the year before and if he continued his dominance on the ground, Tennessee looked to have another great year. He was on the cover of Madden, so of course he had his worst year ever and was injured frequently.

Subject 2: Daunte Culpepper; cover-star of Madden 2002. Culpepper looked to have a promising season but hurt his knee, missed five games, and had a mediocre season.

Subject 3: Marshall Faulk; cover-star of Madden 2003. Faulk was the most well-known and well-liked running back in the NFL. He was practically a household name especially after he helped the Rams get to the Superbowl. However, he decided to sign on for the cover of Madden. Bad decision. He hurt his ankle badly, missed six games, and had a very underwhelming year.

Subject 4: Mike Vick; coverstar of Madden 2004. He looked like he'd be the greatest quarterback of all time. The Falcons would surely make it to the playoffs and dominate. But John Madden himself handpicked Mike Vick to be on the front of his game. Expectantly, Vick broke his leg in the preseason and missed 12 starts.

2005 Ray Lewis Had a less then stellar year and missed 1 game

Yep. It's official. The Eagles are screwed next year. McNabb on the cover AND coming off a superbowl loss. They're lookin at 8-8.

McNabb does learn the hard way. He got injured by virtue of the Cambell's Chunky Soup curse in 2002, and now this.
