I am looking forward to Revolution on NBC and Last Resort on ABC, also Arrow on The CW is intriguing. The CW has much worse production standards so it can go either way.

Last Resort sounds like the type of show that people here would love - the plot The show is about the renegade crew of a United States Navy Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine, the fictional USS Colorado (SSBN-753), that defies an order to launch nuclear missiles towards Pakistan, a decision that costs the commanding officer his job when he refuses to follow out the orders without an explanation or official confirmation. When his second in command also questions the same orders, the vessel is fired upon without warning and the crew are left for dead. Realizing that they have been declared enemies of their own country, they set up camp on the fictional island of Sainte Marina, and declare themselves a sovereign nation with nuclear capability. At the same time, the crew must find a way to prove their innocence and find out who set them up so that they can return home to America.

How long can you honestly think Last resort is gonna last? I say, it gets cancelled after like 4 episodes. The arrow is not gonna go so well, IMO.

Last year I didn't expect much from Person of Interest or Grimm and both did well. TV predictions are hard to make prior to the show debuting. Terra Nova looked like it would be a major hit and its gone.

The one thing that truly bothers me about Arrow is that the guy is crazy muscular after being stranded on a desert island for five years. He must have been stranded with some free weights and unlimited protein shakes.

That sub show looks promising but it is hard to get into new shows these days because the majority get cancelled. Four shows me and the wife liked were: Prime suspect, Terra Nova, The Event and Alcatraz.......each was cancelled.

I'll stick to Survivor, Amazing Race, Criminal Minds and Modern Family this fall.

One thing I have picked up doing is waiting until it is renewed for its second season before watching, only for networks. Cable TV and channels like HBO are pretty safe for renewal if its a good show. Did it with Grimm, but Revolution and Last Resort I am looking forward to far too much to wait.

Right now I am watching Grimm, Alphas, Copper, Perception, and Revolution. Looking forward to The Walking Dead, The Mentalist, and Suits. Watched the first episode of "Go On", and it was somewhat funny.

I watched the "Go On" (with Matthew Perry) pilot after the Olympics and it was really good... I was surprised...

They are starting off the season (with that pilot, I think) on Tuesday... it's worth a watch...

I'm looking forward to "Revolution"... critics are giving "Nashville" a big thumbs up, but it doesn't look like my type of show...

I usually only stay with about two shows max, but I have dwindled it down to the following:

I started watching Major Crimes, but honestly, Mary McDonnell is a little underwhelming so far. I will probably give it the boot.

I'm going to watch Revolution, mostly because one of the main characters was such a great nemesis to Chief Johnson on the final seasons of The Closer (yeah, that's right, I watched the Closer and it was glorious).

I'll probably check out Arrow, but I always felt Green Arrow was kind of dorky so I don't know if I can get past that. Plus that whole being ripped after spending five years on an island thing.

I'll probably check out 666 Park Avenue as well. I have been waiting for a replacement show for Lost since it ended and I am hoping this is it.

I plan on checking out Vegas as well. Hopefully Dennis Quaid can make the transition to TV.

I'm excited to watch Revolution. I love to read and before I die, I'd like to write a book. I had an idea similar to the plot based on Revolution so I'm a little peeved that I didn't get to writing earlier because now I'll look like a copy cat. Anyways, if you like to read you should check out anything written by Joe Abercrombie, Patrick Rothfuss or George R.R. Martin.

I just finished watching the premiere of Revolution and WOW! This is going to be a really great series! The twists at the end of the episode were quite nice. And the brother Miles is one kickbutt bad ***...

I'm on XFinity (Comcast) and their website had a little thingy to allow for watching several about-to-start series "early". Sweet! :)

Some TV news -

Fringe ends on Feb 1st.

CW is developing a Wonder Woman series, not clear if its the same script as the failed NBC pilot from last year or a new one. I guess they are looking at a potential pairing of Archer and Wonder Woman, this makes me doubt that Archer will be much more than a teenage female targeted drama rather than a superhero adventure I would be into like Heroes.

Like others, I had been disappointed by the shows I like getting cancelled. Terra Nova, The Event and Alcatraz all got shut down and one that lasted a bit longer, Chuck, got canned as well.

This season I will only focus on two of the new shows, Revolution and Last Resort. Other than that, not much grabs my interest.

Seems we have similar tastes in TV, liked every show you listed + Revolution and Last Resort are my target shows this season. Chuck had a good run though and the 5th season really fell off. The first 4 were great and the first 2 were A+ tv.

HBO and AMC have really picked up TV for me. The Newsroom, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and Mad Men. Just between these two networks and I follow them all. BBC America with Copper game through with some gold too.

Supposedly something happens and all electronic equipment and electrical items stop working.

The show starts out years after this has all happened.

Man is so dumb that we cannot return to the 19th century and steam and gas lights and such.

That is why I put thumbs down on this show. It has a stupid premise.

I have higher standards for fiction then this show is capable of producing.

Also all the weapons they show are archaic, meaning bows and swords. Guns would still work, they don't require electricity.

Revolution, NBC

Premieres Monday, Sept. 17 at 10 p.m. What it's about: What if all the electricity around the world stopped working? That's the premise of this ambitious new series from über producer J.J. Abrams and Supernatural's Eric Kripke. The series opens with the world blinking out into darkness and then skips 15 years into the future as a young woman named Charlie (Being Human's Tracy Spiradakos) tries to save her brother with the help of an uncle (Twilight's Billy Burke) she hasn't seen since she was a child from the militia that has kidnapped him. Along her journey to save her brother, she finds herself hunting for answers as to why the electricity went out, what her own connection is to the event, and whether the electric can ever be turned back on again. Beyond that, there's a revolution at foot against the militias that run the country and she's right in the thick of it all. The series also stars Elizabeth Mitchell (Lost, V), David Lyons (The Cape), and Giancarlo Esposito (Once Upon a Time).

What creator Eric Kripke says about Revolution: "Supernatural is in so many ways a procedural. It's sort of like a procedural from Mars. And I was just really interested in my next turn at that, just diving into a show that doesn't even have those procedural elements and you can just tell the pure saga of it. I needed to delve neck-deep into the Joseph Campbell hero's journey."

Our take: We're really rooting for Revolution. It's pure sci-fi and how many true science fiction shows with this kind of scope are there on TV right now? A couple, maybe. Add into the mix Abrams and Kripke, who both know how to build a TV show, throw in a fantastic pilot, a good cast, a cute girl with a bow and arrow a la The Hunger Games, and there's some real potential here. While we're more than a little worried about Revolution being stuck in NBC's deathly Monday at 10 p.m. timeslot, and about the poor track record of these kind of world bending shows (The Event, Terra Nova), we're hopeful the series will live up to it's potential and that audiences will embrace it.

American Horror Story: Asylum, FX

Season two premieres Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 10 p.m.

Season two is an entirely new story, with a new setting and some of season one's cast returning in different roles. So whatever you think you know about American Horror Story, forget about it. The only thing to take away from season one is that each season will be a completely new story that's self-contained. For season two, Jessica Lange will take center stage for the story, which is set in the 1960s at a mental institution run by Lange's character. The cast includes returning actors Lange, Zachary Quinto, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Lily Rabe, and new actors James Cromwell, Joseph Fiennes, Franka Potente, Jenna Dewan, Adam Levine, and Clea Duvall.

While there won't be any ghosts this season, the horror will take other forms, said actress Sarah Paulson. "This season is much more of a psychological terror and preying on all of our fears as humans about being left, being unwanted, unloved, and disenfranchised. So it's got, I think, a much more ... I don't know. It taps into a kind of universal fear that we all have. I think that makes it all the more terrifying for me. It's not just about things that go bump in the night."

Just watched the Revolution pilot. A+. I was excited because J.J Abrams is attached and it is sci-fi, but this really blew me away. Great show. Anyone on the fence about giving it a shot go for it. It's excellent writing with quite a few twists in only the first episode.

On top of that this will be a hit. The marketing strategy is genius, look at Mad Men, Breaking Bad, Walking Dead etc; they stole this strategy from AMC. They released the pilot weeks before it and they are airing this after the Voice on Mondays. Usually with a new series the pilot episode is the money episode, where you can predict if a show will make it or not but it is not the pilot episode instead it is the week 2 episode. People that watched it a week ago will be pumped for that episode with how they ended this, myself included. I will be watching this live Week 2. Add in the explosive beginning of the first episode and the fact it follows The Voice and it may well pull a 3.0+ in week 2. In other words it would be the biggest hit on NBC excluding the Voice. It's only a 13 episode season so even if it experienced a massive decline in ratings of .1 a week the entire season it would be renewed at 1.7, but it won't fall that low behind The Voice. It should settle in around 2.3-2.5 which would make it safe.

The plot line is similar to Walking Dead in that it is not realistic and it is loaded with action with a group first mentality. I am not saying this will be a phenomenon like The Walking Dead but NBC is giving it every opportunity to be. The short season is the final addition of genius. Instead of a 22 episode season which is the norm on broadcast networks it will allow a shorter run building up more anticipation. If this ends at a 2.5 after the season and NBC makes the right move throwing it right on Netflix for streaming it could easily return next with with a 3.3+, if not higher. This could be the scripted hit to turn the network around.

Anyone who roots for better TV give this a shot, anyone who likes sci-fi give this a shot, anyone who likes action give this a shot, anyone who likes The Walking Dead give it a shot. The pilot is everywhere, you can watch it on demand for free on most cable carriers, Hulu and NBCs' site so very little reason not to check it out. The only people that will regret it are those that can't watch TV without letting their imagination take over, but entertainment is rarely built for them. They can watch MTV.

Also since I saw people talking about how no guns are in the show and that's unrealistic, this isn't really a spoiler you will see this within 5 minutes of turning the episode on, there are guns. They explain why so few people have them with a logical reason, no one will be disappointed by it. They just didn't run with them in ads at all. So that part of the "stupid logic" can be thrown out.

They can watch MTV.

excellent writing??? the sci-fi is terrible, the writing sucks, the acting could take lessons from the writing...i feel like i'm watching another 80s show that when i grew up i was like "wow that was bad" only this time i knew it ahead of time.

,,,,. Hopefully Dennis Quaid can make the transition to TV.

When did Dennis Quaid ever make the transition to acting. I am of the opinion he is the worst actor today. Every time I see him in a film I swear I will never watch him again

I have gotten hooked on Boss. Kelsey Grammer is awesome in the role as a mean spirited Chicago Mayor. I would never have imagined he would ever be anything but Frazier Crane but he nails this part. You hate him and love him at hte same time. Great show.

There is lots of stupid logic left in it; I guess for children and the like it will be interesting

For thinking intelligent adults it is a joke

Last Resort wil fail miserably, you can only stretch out a plot like that so long.

It doesn't have to be stretched if they know where they're going ahead of time. If they'd write it for 2 seasons and it starts of strong, it could actually make it. If it gets through the first season I will probably watch it, since it sounds relatively plausible.

The rest is all empty junk. I want to like the new Abrams show, but it looks like a bad take off of a couple of books I've read, with personality focus rather than any coherent plot.

Just waiting for the next season of Dexter to come out. Hope it's not terrible, which I've never worried about before..

Most people that know anything about zombie shows or movies already knows it is not the zombies that the true stories are about. The zombies are just the means to accelerate and intensify the real stories.
