I have a network setup already with a wired router, and on the network is a printer attached to the router via Ethernet cable. There are also 3 computers on the network. I am trying to replace the router with a wireless router but cannot seem to get the printer to be recognized. All other connections between the other computers are working fine and the printer is the only issue.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I need to do? Is it possible it's just a crappy router that doesn't handle that kind of thing?

Thanks.

More than likely if it has DHCP enabeled its handing out differnet IP addresses than the one that is already in the printer. Do you know what the IP address of the printer is?

Unless you are using the same make of router the ip address scheme is different. Remove the ip address from the printer and let the router assign a new one then set it as a static ip address.

You can verify the IP assigned to the printer by using the display and printing the config page.

On the config page will have it listed as Static or DHCP then list the IP, Subnet and gateway.

A lot of times on the bottom right side of the config page

I know the IP address the printer currently has, but don't know how to release it or change it to a new one.

What kind of printer is it?

Toshiba e-studio 2540c

You should be able to set it through the menus on the front of the machine.

If not browse to the ip address through your browser.

I think it was in the admin settings which required a password, and I think the Toshiba tech had that and he was unavailable. But it's okay, I was able to change the default IP address of the router to match the previous router and all is working fine now.

Good thinking....there is always more than one way to do it
