The Cowboys had five false starts against the Giants in the season opener. Left tackle Tyron Smith had three of the five. Some of it was blamed on the timing of having a new center, Ryan Cook. Cook arrived at Valley Ranch only five days before the opening game and had only 10 snaps in practice with the first team. But he was forced into action after only three plays when starting center Phil Costa tweaked his back.

"It should help just having the experience of him snapping the ball to our quarterback and the timing of that," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "A few of them were simply timing issues where the other offensive linemen were anticipating that ball coming up a little bit quicker. They got a quick jump on it. Hopefully, over the practices that we’ve had and will continue to have this week, we’ll get better and better at figuring out what that timing is and all come off the ball at the same time."

Not going to lie: the dead-ball/concentration-related penalties drive me crazy. And it's an area I was sure JG would clean up where we haven't seen much progress at all yet. It's puzzling.

It would appear crowd noise and false starts for visiting teams go hand in hand, as one might expect. What with Seattle being notorious for its noisy stadium, the Cowboys' offensive line will be put to the test. Hopefully, they'll respond with a better effort than last week against the Giants. In any case, Seattle's noisy stadium should provide a challenging proving ground.

Would certainly expect Cowboys to go with a silent count; also assume lot of music/sound was played during at least 1 practice to ensure players understand how loud this stadium will be. After all, only players remaining on this team from the 2006 team are Romo, Ware, Witten & Ratliff.

I think we will be much better this week. 2 of Tyrons false starts were on run plays so that's more a situation of a new center then being jumpy.
