Hi guys
I have 6 year old twin boys and for Christmas I would like to buy either Play Station or Wii for them.
I read some reviews to be able to pick the one that is more suitable for 6 year olds but not a lot of comparison.
Any suggestions here?

I like the PS3 better, but I think a Wii would be better for kids so if I were you I'd buy them that then get them the PS3 when they're older. ;)

I have a Playstation 3, but the only thing I really use it for is MLB.tv and Netflix. I just don't play many console games.
That said, if your twins are six years old I would think the Wii would be the better choice. The Wii has a lot of less complicated for them than the PS3 I believe.
There are other users here that have both. I'm sure they will chime in as well.

Go with the Wii. More games that your kids would enjoy.

Wii or 360 would be the better choice for kids.

I just pre-ordered the Wii-U last week at GS. We have all 3 systems, but to be honest, I started my son out on an SNES at 4 yrs old and he is 10x the gamer I am now. :( Very good at it.
The Wii is a great system for children of that age. I'd def look into it more than say the PS3. It has some good kids games but nothing compared to the Wii.
G/L and Im sure w/e you choose they runts will enjoy it. :starspin

I bought a PS3 because my son said I needed it to get 1080 for some reason. I get 1080 from my AppleTV. Not much on Comcast at 1080 it seems or am I wrong about that? I also have a WD media ctr for some downloads on a network HD. I guess that does 1080 if the media is 1080?? What to I need this PS3 for? Never used it.
BTW, seems Wii better for kids. At least they interact with it and get some exercise.

You can bet a refurbished Wii for about $100 at Gamestop. If it's for Christmas, the next generation Wii should be out by then.

We had a LOT of fun together on the Wii when my kids were younger. You get to create your own character as well, so they will like that...
One thing I would caution.... make SURE they use the wrist straps at ALL times. If not you will likely be buying a new TV, fixing walls and buying new controllers...

Don't overlook XBOX-Kinect. When the kids get older, just add a regular XBOX to the list :)
This was meant for the OP, not you Trick

I'd go with a Wii. Anything made by SONY will just break in a few months.

Have you tried watching a Bluray on it? I think the PS3 would be more for Blurays, which look really good and are 1080, but it's not necessarily just for 1080 content.

I would get a Wii or wait a little for the WiiU to come out, for kids that age.

The WiiU comes out next month doesn't it?
Get a WiiU, it's the best of both worlds the first party Nintendo games like Mario that are great for kids and it looks like it will have similar 3rd party support as the xbox and PS3

...for your kids age go with Wii. More games and simpler interface.

Wii by far, the games are easier and far more age appropriate.

I would go with anything other than Nintendo.
I think the problem with Nintendo is that it has that "wow" factor but the problem is that a lot of their best games can be beaten fairly easy and there isn't a lot of replay value which I think is key for a video game.

And 6 year old can grows up and can say they don't want to play a game or a console anymore. It happens. It happened to me when I would play the Mario games back in the 80s. I would play the game 15 20 min at most because it got boring. Xbox and PS3 has just as much games rated for everyone and are probably cheaper and visually looks better than the Wii.
