iFixit: iPhone 5 Teardown

Figured some of you guys would be interested in this. I just came across it and haven't checked it out yet.

I'll admit I'm not 100% on if this comparison is apt, but it looks like the i5's battery is underpowered if it switches to 4G LTE.

The Galaxy Nexus is 1750 mAh and I burn through it pretty damn quick.

Now the i5 is at 1440 mAh???? That's approximately 30% less than the Galaxy SIII.

My Nexus sometimes irks me that it eats the battery like it does when I'm really working multiple apps and surfing. I can't imagine shaving off almost 1/5th the power that the i5 is getting and trying to use it to its full potential.

Apple might have some power consumption trick up its sleeve though. Who knows. I already use a task killer and battery saver to stretch my Nexus out.

I thought I heard someone say the iPhone 5's battery life has increased even with LTE enabled. Obviously, someone will test that theory out. Though it doesn't sound right considering the iPhone 5 is smaller and lighter than iPhone 4S that didn't have LTE.

If you have LTE, you know that chews up a hell of a lot more battery than 3G does.

Page 2 of the tear down shows the comparison of the 4S and the 5. They're showing same talk time, but a maximum increase of 25 hours on standby time on the 5.

Like I said, I couldn't see trading in almost 1/5th of the battery power of my Nexus for a 5.

And I doubt that a 5 owner will get 225 hours of standby time. They'll be too busy showing it off to everyone they can. ;)
