Ratliff Still Quiet, But Teammates Excited About His Return Sunday

IRVING, Texas – From the statistical standpoint, the Cowboys have the fourth-best defense in the league. Against the pass, no one has been better this year.

And to think, the Cowboys still haven’t had one of their best players in the lineup.

That should change this week with the return of defensive tackle Jay Ratliff, who has missed the last five weeks with a high-ankle sprain he suffered in the third preseason game on Aug. 25. We need him to return. He's one of our best pass rushers. We desperately need to create more pressure on the opposing quarterback. He's also solid in the run game. Spencer will help as well. Hopefully we get both guys back. We need them. Our defense is gonna have a hell of a task trying to slow down a very explosive Baltimore offense.

A healthy Ratliff will be a temporary shot in the arm.

He can't play every down. He's not in football shape, he's a year older, and he's not the stoutest fellow to begin with.

The DL as a whole lacks playmakers of any kind. Watching JJ Watt and Justin Smith you can tell their teams are headed deep into the playoffs.

When your OL and DL are as bereft of talent as Dallas' are, it's unfair to pin hopes on one guy whose best years are long gone.

brent play the run downs. Rat come-in in passrush situations. Or they can play every other series and etc. IDK. I bet bmore go to hurry up alot vs us though, force our run stoppers to have to rush the passer.
