IRVING — A day after suffering a high-ankle sprain Sunday in the Cowboys’ 31-29 loss to the Ravens, Dallas defensive lineman Sean Lissemore was seen wearing a boot over his right foot.

Lissemore’s prognosis at this point is uncertain.

“Usually high ankles are a few weeks,” he said.

Lissemore knows. He watched nose tackle Jay Ratliff miss the first four games after suffering the exact same injury Aug. 25. Ratliff didn’t make his 2012 debut until Sunday.

“I want to get back as soon as possible,” Lissemore said. “Whatever that takes. I don’t want to come back too early and make it worse and set myself back even further. As soon as I can get back, I will. Bottom line.”

Hate to hear that but at least we do have Rat back on the field along with Josh Brent. If Ratliff was still down then it would be a big problem

He was overrated around here anyway. Training camp warrior.

Shaping up to be one of our tougher seasons, injury wise.

As I said could be worse, at least this has happened when Ratliff is back and with a game under his belt and we do have Brent as well to play the position. I hate to see Lissemore go down but better than having two NT out of the lineup

Was Sean doing anything?

He has been playing solid ball. Dallas in short yardage has done pretty darn good and I think in large part because of the play of Lissemore and Brent. Not a glamor job they have but still an important part of a defense.

I know we all get locked into stats but sometimes doing your job closing off interior running lanes that forces a RB to bounce outside is part of doing the job. You did not get the stat for a tackle but you did the job you needed to do.

LOL, whatever.

Lissimore was BY FAR the best defensive lineman on the team so far in the season.

Gonna have to agree.

Gonna have to agree.
Wow, do you guys even watch the games?

It's been widely agreed - by Broaddus, Laufenberg, etc. - that Lissimore has been clearly the best defensive lineman getting the most consistent pressure this season.

Plus, he can play nose tackle or end, WHICH WAS WHY SPEARS WAS INACTIVE ON SUNDAY.

Gonna have to agree.

I guess a player is over rated if you rated him too high to begin with. I think Lissemore is a solid inside player and a big help to the defensive front. Not sure I would call him a pro Bowl player at this stage but he has been a good dependable, solid player. Those are pretty important guys to have on any team.

Good. He's a backup at best anyway on a legit DLine. Let's see what Crawford can do

The negative I've heard that I thought mattered about Liss was inconsistent. That puzzled me a little so I don't know how much weight to give that. I think this is a minor negative for the team at this point as long as we don't start going thru more DL.

High ankle sprains are graded and I'd guess this is the norm of a 1-2. It takes time to observe each one and get some idea how long. I'd look for it to be at least 4-6 weeks. Sry.

Not really. He's literally one of the players I forgot is on the team sometimes.

I can't help but wonder if Lissemore's injury might possibly be a signal for an increased number of reps for Tyrone Crawford. I'll be curious to see what he can do if given additional opportunities. I think he has possiblities but may simply be a year away from legitimately challenging for a starter's role or, at least, more time on the field. He probably has the talent and the motor but the comfort level is possibly still lacking.
