IRVING, Texas -- When it first happened, Cowboys center Phil Costa (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/13552/phil-costa) was a mess. He banged his head on the ground, several of his teammates, Jay Ratliff (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/8638/jay-ratliff), Felix Jones (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/11256/felix-jones) and Orlando Scandrick (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/11366/orlando-scandrick) among them, came on the field to support him. Coach Jason Garrett walked onto the field shook Costa's hand and patted him on the chest.

Yes it seemed Costa's ankle injury meant his season was over as he tried to make a tackle on an interception return. Costa dislocated his right ankle during Sunday's victory over the Carolina Panthers (http://espn.go.com/nfl/team/_/name/car/carolina-panthers). It was immobilized and he was carted off the field.

But Costa's ankle snapped back into place and now it seems he could miss anywhere from four-to-six weeks with a severe ankle sprain.

I expect he's our guy for the new IR list where he can come off later - but yeah, I'd guess that he is done for the year

Hey Miles Austin, this would have never happened if you would learn how to hold the damn football in traffic!

The Giants game last year and now this.

Well, I thought when it happened he ruptured his Achilles and athletes just don't return to form after a ruptured Achilles. So that's why I was somewhat positive to hear that it wasn't that.

How is Austin to blame for Costa? Costa injury took place before the pass was thrown as he was back peddling and stepped on another player’s foot. I agree Austin need to hang on to the ball but the 2 incidents have nothing to do with one another.

I remember how Roy got absolutely toasted for doing basically the same thing as Miles did

Well it is not an excuse. Miles knows better, you have to protect the ball when you are in a crowed area as he was. You are trying to get past a player in front of you while having players coming up from behind. He screwed up on the play but he also came back on the same play later and helped this team.

There are many plays within a game and players will mess up all I can hope for within a game is that player shakes it off, gets his head back into the game and make the play the next time it comes his way.

One of the main keys with any sport is the ability to put a bad play behind you and move on from it. You can't change what just happened you can change what is about to happen. Guys who can't shake off a mistake really do not help their team out

What? Do these guys ever watch a game? Costa fell down after stepping on a teamate went to the ground and never got up.
