Jerry Jones issued an open invitation to anyone who wanted to come to Cowboys Stadium this Sunday to watch his ’Boys “beat the Giants’ *****.”
“Yeah, I remember that very well,” Giants receiver Victor Cruz said Monday. “But we’ve still got to play the game. We understand that. We’ll be there.”
The Giants (5-2) are eager to get there, in fact, and play a Cowboys team that spoiled their nationally televised opening night party. The Cowboys (3-3) beat the Giants, 24-17, back on Sept. 5, making the Giants the first defending Super Bowl champions to lose their regular season opener since 1999.
That loss actually may provide the most motivation for the Giants, who safety Antrel Rolle said are “definitely looking for some get-back” after what was easily their worst game of the season. They’ve won five of six since then to take control of the NFC East and believe they’re a completely different team.

You wouldn't think they would have to use this as motivation.
If anything we should be the more motivated team since they ended our season last year.

A comment made in July as a joke still burns?
I think they need a little Boudreaux's.

You know the Giants are good for using wack excuses to motivate themselves.
Playing a division rival can't be enough.

trash talk is called that for a reason

hopefully it motivates them like the same way it did for the opener :p:
seriously that giants team still talks more trash than we do even without fat boy ..

Whatever works. The Giants have won 2 of the last 5 Super Bowls. Maybe Dallas should find some wack reasons to motivate themselves.
Kind of reflects in each team's play. The Giants seem to thrive in that "us against the world" mentality. Dallas seems to fold up when the pressure is on.

They've won 2 out the last 5 superbowls.
Whose counting them out? Whose betting against them? They're lauded throughout the league for their talent and accomplishments and yet, they feel the need to come up with old and stale motivation techniques.
It's wack, nobody buys it, and doesn't have a thing to do with Dallas.

Hahaha. So predictable.
Jerry already made it clear BEFORE WEEK 1 that he misspoke and was referring to the Week 1 game when he made that comment.
But since the Giants took it on the chin in that game, now let’s all pretend that Jerry was actually referring to their Week 8 matchup.

Well, my advice to Dallas is to worry about themselves being ready. They had better bring their A game. If they come out flat then lookout.

Trap game for the Giants. They will be dumb-founded leaving Cowboys Stadium.

And you know Coughlin will show the video the night before in the team meeting of Jerry and they will all get fired up, yadda, yadda (like he does a lot.)
Maybe Jason should show the last game last year to our squad and watching them celebrate. Now that would get me motivated.

Imagine that, Jerry misspoke. Maybe he should just shut up.

While I tend to agree, cause I definately see your point, what was the problem the other 3 years then?
Was the world not against them those 3? Could they just not use that motivation to hype themselves up enough for the other 3 years?
I don't get the whole mentality personally but I do see where you're coming from and I see that it does seem to play some sort of roll for a lot of people in sports.

Yeah, those wacky Super Bowl Champion Giants.
They should be riled up. Players talk. The owner of a team should have more class and more sense about him.

Look the Giants are good but with exception to the SF game they have not been convincing so far even though they are champions. Their running game has not been doing well so they go to the air which worked against SF since the SF DBacks couldn't cover a tupperware container.
Dallas has more and will be in this game unless they allow NYG to open it up by playing poor D/
Look for the Giants to go with short passes to open up running or big plays and cover Cruz. If I see him do one more stupid dance i am going scream and smash my TV!
I predict Dallas by 3.

They buy it. Isn't that all that really matters?
You may consider it stale and old, but it still seems to be effective.
And if that approach works, why wouldn't you take advantage of it when a division rival's owner runs his mouth all offseason?

Motivation is just one of many factors that go into a winning season.
You can't win with motivation alone, but it can certainly help you along the way.

They may buy into it, but there comes a time when they gotta know that joe public doesn't. And that at some point, people are going to turn on them for using it when it doesn't apply.
I felt the same way when the Patriots were rolling through teams and tried the same tactic.
When you're a good team, I just expect you to talk and walk with swag and confidence. I don't expect good teams to talk and play up to the media, "You old meanies are counting us out. Nobody thought we could win and we did it."
And while they're doing it, they're rolling through every team on their schedule. That's just ridiculous.

Who cares what joe public thinks?
It works for them and they employ it to their advantage. Their job is to win games, not cater to the feelings of fans.
I guess I'm sorry the Giants aren't meeting your expectations of how a good team should act. I'm just saying that whatever motivational techniques they are using, no matter how annoying, are effective.
It isn't ridiculous. It is apparently effective.

I think this is different. I don't see "the world against us" tactic used here.
I see a rivalry that has been alive for a very long time. I see a team that hasn't lost in Jerry's house in three games. Jerry should just shut his mouth period, at least until his product on the field can produce consistently.

They're not using it this week. They used it against San Fran.
And I was just using the "Us against the world" thing as an example.
As for using Jerry's trash talking as motivation... It was a glorified pep rally. He's SUPPOSED to say stuff like that in that environment.

I get it. Don't use specific teams, don't use the SB champs. He's just stupid when it comes to this stuff. As usual he will probably end up embarrassed.

At this point, it's just nitpicking..
