The Cowboys understand the Giants are not the same team they beat 24-17 in the season opener.

At least that's the message defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is getting out of New York and that's the one he selling to him to his team for motivational purposes heading into Sunday's rematch at Cowboys Stadium.

"I understand we played the Giants before and the only reason we stopped them was their lack of execution," Ryan said. "It had nothing to do with our players or our scheme. That’s been well documented. That was said. They give a lot of credit where credit is due, and it’s just because of their lack of execution. We got the message, we understand that. That’ll be great. We’re looking forward to that challenge. They’re the Super Bowl champs. We’ve given them nothing but respect. They’ve hung a million yards up on us before. Then when we played them the first game of the year, they just had a bad day."

that is the first time ryan has been outspoken this year. maybe it will help or hurt or it will not matter at all. i wonder why he has been so quiet so far this year.

I like it when coaches paint their team as the underdog. We seem to shy away from it sometimes, but he's putting it out there this week.

We should match up ok with the Giants defensively. It'll come down to the execution of our good players against their good players. We're missing Church and Lee, but have Ratliff back. And we're pass blocking a lot better offensively. It also looks like we might finally hit on a combination that works for us on our ST coverage units. No ST touchdowns given up, and win the turnover battle, and we'll win this game.

I certainly prefer this approach to coming out and sayin something like "we beat them in the first week of the season and there is no reason to believe that we can't shut them down again"

He's back...

... and I love it. Before the writers started writing their headlines for today I was happy listening to Rob's pregame interview. We need to not only play better, but to know, believe and make our opponent believe that we are just as good as they are. We seem to have a team full of nice guys. Not that there's anything wrong with nice but this is football. I need to see some determination and dominance.

One of the keys to our toughness is Rat. That's one guy I can depend on to bring the nasty. I agree with your mention of execution. That's the one thing I always worry about with this version of the Cowboys. Somebody on the coaching staff is at fault. You are the teachers. If you got students who cant's execute the plan, you need to adjust, it's that simple. Moving parts.
