I've wondered the same thing, Nors.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to see us wind up with one of the players least often connected to us... Like Pollack.

Shaun Cody at 20 is another one that comes to mind. He's a big-school, versatile, active lineman, but we haven't talked about him a whole lot.

I don't get the smoke screen conspiracy theories based on what happened last year. We actually did like Kevin Jones. Even tried to trade back up in the 1st round to take him, but couldn't find a taker. Probably would have taken him at #22 if Buffalo hadn't given us such a great deal.

It's not even so much the deliberate smokescreen theory as much as the herd mentality among writers and us fans. The buzz has been about Ware and Merriman, and we have all kind of narrowed our focus to them (as well as Spears). But who's to say that Parcells hasn't fallen in love with, say, Erasmus James? Maybe he's studied his injuries and he's convinced they were all unusual accidents.

Just saying that something like that could happen. I can just imagine Parcells talking post-draft about how wrong all us laymen were about who he really liked. :)

We could have been saying Merriman/Ware all along & be targetting MW for instance?
