I wont be surprised if Glover is traded, if certain things happened on draft day...I think getting Spears is the trigger for any potential deal involving Glover
others:
1) QB McPherson will go on the 2nd day
2) Heath Miller wont be a 1st rd pick
3) we'll end up with some combination (2 of them) of Spears, Merriman, Ware and Pollack
4) Derrick Johnson and Cedric Benson fall out of the top-10, much to the chagrin of the Longhorn homers
5) Matt Jones wont be a first rd pick
6) Maurice Clarett will be drafted in the 6th rd at the earliest, and maybe not at all
7) we'll draft a RB in the late 2nd or early 3rd rd (hopefully Sproles)
8) biggest fallers....Dan Cody into the 2nd rd...Anttaj Hawthorne probably to the 2nd day and may not be drafted now...
9) Parcells spends a 6th rd pick on a TE (ok ok, thats not a bold prediction, we know that will happen)
10) and last but not least...no matter how well we appear to do this weekend, ESPN will not give an ounce of credit to Jones or Parcells for it

Ware and/or Merriman are off the board before we pick. We trade the 2nd round pick for Howard. Trade down from 11 to somewhere in the teens and select Pollack. We also trade down from 20 and select Blackstock.

We trade down with both picks and take Spears and Roth/Cody/Tuck in the first.
Because of trades in the top 10 Merriman and Ware will BOTH be gone at #11, bye-bye 3-4 base talk.:D

I'm fully prepared to run the 4-3, If we do not land the 3 key players we need for the 3-4....I can deal with it.
As for you...do we need to remove knives from the drawers and the bullets from the gun if we land Merriman, Spears and Pollack and use 3-4 as base??? J/K of course

Aaron Rogers falls out of the top 10 and our phone rings off the hook from Green Bay for the 11th pick. A deal is made and we acquire Green Bay's 1st (#24) and 3rd round (#89) picks this year and #1 next year as well.
Glover or Ellis are traded along with that 3rd round selection to move back up into the teens to take either Spears, Ware or James.
At #20 Philly calls us to offer their 1st round (#31) and 3rd round (#77) to move up ahead of Baltimore and take either Mark Clayton or Roddy White.
We then use #24 on either a WR (Clayton or White if available) or Thomas Davis (if KC doesn't take him at #15). If all those guys are gone then we use the #24 pick on Blackstock.
At #31 we select CB Marlin Jackson.

For my point of view to come about the draft needs to go as predicted by most pundits.
For your POV to work we need to land 3 players all projected in the top 15 by many pundits.
Logic tells me, I'm not the one needing all pointy objects removed.:D

The longest first round with the most trades in the history of the draft. Every team will use up every second of their 15 minutes waiting on trades.

Pretty much the same thing I said, but instead of Smith it's Rogers that falls to us and we make a deal with Green Bay allowing them to move up to #11 and take him.

You are absolutely correct except that Rogers falling out of the top ten is much more likely (at this point anyway) that Smith. Yours is actually very plausible and I like it. My "prediction" is highly unlikely. I sure wasn't trying to steal your line. :o

We will draft at least 1 of the 3......Ware, Merriman, Spears....in the first round.
We will draft another D-IAA or NAIA return specialist...my gamble is Cedric Bowen from Arkansas Pine-Bluff.
We will draft a TE in day 2.
We will draft either Brodney Pool or Josh Bullocks.
Anyway......my Cowboys mock draft looks like this.
1. DeMarcus Ware DE/OLB Troy State
2. Marcus Spears DE/DT LSU
3. Josh Bullocks FS Nebraska
4. Courtney Roby WR Indiana
5. Marcus Williams ILB South Carolina
6. Tony Jackson TE Iowa
7. Cedric Bowen RB/KR Arkansas Pine-Bluff
8. Junius Coston OT/OG North Carolina A&T

8) biggest fallers....Dan Cody into the 2nd rd.
He's already projected as a second round pick. Late first at best. Not really a "Big" faller. ;)
My prediction:
No matter what happens, there will be some seriously PO'd cowboys fans here tomorrow.
We take Merriman/Spears with the first pick, Pollack with the second pick and Matt Jones/Terrence Murphy with the third.

I predict that , in a bold draft day move, Washington will trade receiver Rod Gardner...to the Redskins for a 2nd rd choice in the 2006 draft..
Dan Snyder will boast that he got good value for Gardner and Vinny Cerrato will declare its a no lose situation acquiring a player of Gardners stature for just a #2 (which Joe Gibbs will note , they got back in the Gardner deal.)
Then theyll take Jason Campbell with #25.
I predict Braylon Edwards will go #1 overall......

I dunno if the Cowboys have actually spent a 1st rounder on offense in my lifetime. I dont think they have.
Im gonna hope we actually use one of our 1sts on a WR or OL and actually get some real talent here.
As long as Mike Zimmer is DC then usin high draft picks on D is just a waste. All this team has been doin is usin high picks on D and this moron still cant do a good job with the D.

In 97 they drafted LaFleur...man, it does seem a lifetime ago.
Before 97 it was the great Emmitt Smith, before him Aikman, before him Irvin.
I'm going to go with the crowd and say either Merriman, Ware or Pollock at #11
My bold prediction: The safety we draft will be named Marviel Underwood.
Claret is selected by Dallas in the third, Both #1s are traded for all the sixth round picks.....Riots erupt in metroplex.....BWTH we are loaded  on special teams

Ahhhhem.
I'm taking this bold prediction thread to use as my first post on this here forum, I mean, as long as we're throwing shinola against the wall, no harm, no foul. Right?
Some of you know me as the mild mannered, always agreeable jackrussell from another forum or 2. Been reading you all for quite some time really, even before mandatory registration.
While another thread pointed out Cleveland maybe public enemy #1 to Dallas, I believe they may be ally #1. Not wanting to get burnt on another high round QB selection, word in these here parts they are also very interested in QBs Campbell and Frye, who are now seemingly being coveted by GB and Washington in the late first round.
So my bold prediction is 2 fold. Either we trade them our #20 for their #34 & ?, orrrrrrrrr, if BP really really really wants a player in particular, why not our #11 & #20 to Cleveland for their #3 and #34? Hummm?
Please don't hold this post against me, they'll get better. Or not.

Neat thread. I will go out on a limb and predict that Dan Snyder doesn't something really stupid on draft day. Oh wait, that's not very bold, is it? *snicker*
OK..OK.. Ronnie Brown will fall past #10 and be the third running back taken.

YEah, eventhough I don't like it, I have a feeling Spears will be our pick at #11. I don't think Pollack will be available at #20, but if he is I can see us taking him.
