Versatile lineman Kevin Kowalskihttp://www.dallascowboys.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.dallascowboys.com/team/roster/kevin-kowalski/acd29fff-a4e4-4f79-a056-554fadb82d49/) has been activated from the Cowboys’ PUP list and will return to practice this week. The club will get a roster exemption for at least three weeks before they have to decide to either place him on IR or activate him to the 53-man roster and replace an existing player.

It was hard not to forget about Kowalski during the early part of the season.
While the Cowboys were struggling to find some consistency in the interior offensive line, Kowalski was suffering through an ankle injury that forced him to have surgery during training camp.

Kowalksi missed the entire offseason work, including training camp, where the Cowboys lost Phil Costahttp://www.dallascowboys.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.dallascowboys.com/team/roster/phil-costa/119be5ef-632d-43cc-8051-fa1ec8b37a44/) and backup center Bill Nagy to injuries, forcing guard David Arkinhttp://www.dallascowboys.com/assets/nflimg/icon-article-link.gif (http://www.dallascowboys.com/team/roster/david-arkin/7438e278-f37f-4393-b793-0ab36249cb4c/) to switch to center. Arkin has been the backup for all but two games this year.

We really got derailed in TC with all of those interior OL injuries. Plus, we lost Nagy for good, which stinks. Kowalski was a player I thought would really take a step forward in camp, and now that opportunity is lost, along with most of the lower-body work he might have done in the offseason.

Here's hoping he can come in despite all that and add depth or even compete at C.
