Who’s to blame for the Cowboys’ 3-5 record? Jerry Jones is the easiest target because he’s the owner and general manager. Jason Garrett doesn’t fall too far down that list and Tony Romo usually comes next.

The Cowboys executive vice president certainly deserves some blame, and he pointed that out Wednesday during his weekly radio interview.

“You got to have thick skin to work in this world,” Stephen Jones said on 105.3 The Fan [KRLD-FM]. “At the same time, they’re being critical of (my dad) and in my mind they’re being critical of me. I talk him into a lot of the things and work with him and suggest a lot of the things that we do that he gets the blame for. I guess because I’m the backup quarterback, if you will, then I get a pass on all of it, which it shouldn’t be. … I know people may think that Jerry just sits up there and puts his thumb in the air and says this is what we’re going to do. But it’s far from that. I’m very, very involved and I have a big influence.

“Obviously, Jason [Garrett] is, obviously Tom Ciskowski and our scouting department is. There’s a lot of influence that goes on and rarely is there a situation that there’s not a consensus derived. On the very few times that we just can’t come together on something than he’ll be the tiebreaker on it.”

everyone is to blame, so no one is to blame

the second oldest trick in the book after "blame the messenger"

Sound like a bunch of trolls in here. Nothing good to say about nothing. And when something good does transpire, it's usually a back-handed compliment. I'm so glad our fans have no control over this team.

It doesn't have to be exciting. It can be just different and you would spout the same ZZzzZZZz content.

That's all that Fletch is saying.

Same as it ever was...... same as it ever was.

I think the spotlight is beginning to get a little hot for Stephen and Jerry....maybe it is time CowboyNation really stands up and screams and keeps screaming until the team plays like it should. If the Death Star becomes an empty place, things will change....

Maybe they'll stick some huge tax on them they can never pay. Didn't that happen to the Redskins a long long time ago? Family had to sell.

Inheritance tax, which I'll guess Jerry has already planned for.

But, but Stephen Jones was the man that was setting this team in the right direction, when he was pushing for Garrett during Wade's tenure here... He was the one that was finally influencing his father... but, but...

Here you guys have it, one of the biggest supporters of Garrett... yeah, I blame you too..

Stephen Jones has a weekly radio show? How much is there to talk about between he and Jerry's shows?

I applaud Stephen for trying to take some of the heat off of his dad. Perhaps he should be taking some of the blame too, but fans have been dealing with Jerry for way longer than Stephen and Jerry is light years ahead in the blowhard category.

He deserves what he is getting right now.

“We got to protect the ball. We got to reduce the penalties and we got to create some turnovers on defense."

Sounds familiar. I have no idea why people are saying this is idiotic, because it's pretty evident what's getting us beat. Shocked that Stephen forgot to mention OL pass protection and play calling, though. And Tony Romo's QB play. Wonder how he forgot all that?

Ah well when one craves the spotlight & can afford to buy it...well they might get your own radio show.

I could not listen to Jerry. He uh's & hmmm's too much.

I've never seen Stephen talk too much. He might be fine.

I have been blaming you, Stephen. While fans have been giving you that backup QB treatment I've been saying you suck just as much as your father.

The only question I have is does he have the smarts to eventually bring in a real GM.

sounds to me like this Dynamic Duo is getting thin skinned lately.....guess they have been listening to the radio shows and reading the Cowboys Zone. LOL..... too bad he appears to be learning from the "master". Radio show to talk about what he knows nothing about just like ole dad.

He certainly does deserve the blame as well for all these wasted years with no end in sight. Thank you Stephen for all you do.

I guess we gots ourselves the 3 stooges. Stephen, Jerry and Jason. And lookout Jason, cuz the other two are NOT going to fire themselves when the heat is on. Like Jethro says, he will stir things up when fans get fed up with him.

Short of Rich Dalrymple, he seems to be chief of damage control.

In defense of Stephen, he did say in an interview that he would more than likely hire a GM when he took over. Couldn't be soon enough, I don't wish death on Jerry though, maybe his mouth being taped shut during the season or something.

I keep hearing this urban legend, but I have seen no proof of this. Do you have any?

And, the fact that he has a radio show and has been much more visible with the franchise in terms of interviews leads me to believe the opposite.

I actually think he does. He doesn't seem like the type of guy who craves to be the center of attention like Jerry.

Stephen, please, you don't know what you're talking about. You dont' work there. You're not close to the situation. You're not in the decision making process. You don't know how Jerry operates... it's all his fault..

wait...

nevermind..

I actually think he does. He doesn't seem like the type of guy who craves to be the center of attention like Jerry.

We shall see.

I'd be willing to bet he will initially operate as his own GM. Then maybe after years of similar failure he'll bring someone else in.

That's just my opinion on it.
